Breakfast is plentiful and available for an extra charge, depending on your booking. The hotel is close to the city center, which you can easily explore on foot. The facilities are a bit dated but very clean. I wouldn't hesitate to come back if the opportunity arises."

"🥴🥴🥴 Family room with 2 children, sewage smell upon arrival, dust everywhere, cobwebs, bathroom not very clean, and in the evening, upon getting into bed, 2 strange "insects" 😮💨 in the sheets, so we checked under the sheets (which seemed clean, though) directly on the bedding and... ugh, hair, fur, crumbs... Well, I'm leaving a positive review for the welcome despite everything and the location, but I definitely won't be back!!! A serious lack of professionalism regarding hygiene and cleaning. P.S. I also forgot to mention that the light switch didn't work when entering the room."

"According to Trip.com, this hotel refused to give me a refund two minutes after I booked, when I realized they had given me a different date than the one I was searching for. When you're 30 minutes from the hotel at 11:30 PM, you don't need a room the next day, you need it that same day! When I realized upon receiving the reservation that it was the wrong date, I tried to contact the hotel, but it was impossible. I was able to contact Trip.com, who told me to go there in person, make a reservation, and that the exchange would be made between the bookings. Except when I arrived, the hotel was full. We explained our situation to the man on duty, and he told us that the morning shift would sort it out. We hit the road again and went to sleep somewhere else. The next day the person did nothing and I paid for 2 nights instead of one, which I find unacceptable when you only realize the mistake 1 minute after an online purchase."

"A brilliant place to stay if you want to visit the cathedral and the old gown .Only a few minutes walk to the cathedral from the hotel .Lovely. staff and good breakfast, rooms are basic but have good beds ,linen and walk in shower rooms. "Our 3rd visit to this hotel and we hope to be back in 2026. It is very central, just a short walk from the Place des Épars and onward to the chic shopping streets and the cathedral. On site car parking (payable, needs reserving) is available - satnav is recommended to get to the hotel. Rooms are quiet and well appointed and very affordable for such a location. Reception is always warm and very helpful. Breakfast is excellent, with a good choice and really excellent bread, pastries, jams (home made) and butter, etc. Sadly we have always been at the weekend when the restaurant is closed, but there are many alternatives."

"Very nice deluxe Maison d’Hôtes in the city center of Chartres. All city high lights and restaurants at a walking distance. Breakfast was well organized and could be enjoyed at any time in the morning. Room but specially the bathroom was very spacious and well utilized. Only downside is the lack of private parking and busy public parking on the roads around the Maison."

"We stayed for three nights arriving from the US to Paris. We thought we had found the perfect place to stay. After a sleepless overnight flight, we arrived in Chartres not having received any of the messages sent that day from Anais. Fortunately she was onsite or we wouldn’t have been able to get into our room. The breakfast once offered is no longer available although since we had paid for one breakfast for the two of us, they made a special effort to provide it. Our biggest problem was that the wifi does not work and I think they were aware of the problem given the previous review. We were relying on using wifi since our internet provider’s daily rate was quite high. We did not see anyone on site for the remainder of our stay so we were on our own. My husband did communicate with Anais several times through WhatsApp but that was our only means of communication. Everything else about Maison Ailleurs is lovely but I think the wifi problem needs to be fixed and someone should be onsite at least once per day to live up to its prior five star reviews."
