Travelodge Chelmsford

Located on a roundabout so very noisy. No aircon and it is a really hot hotel, so hot they don’t bother supplying duvets. Breakfast was v poor, rehydrated mushrooms, cheap sausages, coffee machine was broken, the juice dispenser was filled with water….. Not impressed, please don’t waste your money staying here.

Cheap and nasty unfortunately. Just about palettable for one night but unless you are desperate, go elsewhere. The room was pretty dirty and had stains etc. Not good enough

My husband has sleep apnea and was unable to plug his cpap machine in beside the bed as he normally would. We both had a sleepless night as a result. This information really should be on the website and the app. We have never stayed anywhere that did not have at least one 3 pin socket beside the bed. We cannot stay here again

I had the pleasure of staying at the Travelodge Chelmsford Hotel in April 2025 and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The location is ideal — centrally situated in Chelmsford with easy access to everything you might need — but it’s the staff that truly elevate this hotel. A special shoutout to Shelly, the manager, whose warm welcome, professionalism, and attention to detail made me feel immediately at ease. Her leadership clearly sets the tone for the entire team. I also want to highlight Dawn, a team member who was equally fantastic — friendly, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile. Both Shelly and Dawn are a credit to the Travelodge brand. The hotel itself is clean, quiet, and well maintained. My room was spotless, the bed extremely comfortable, and I appreciated the calm, peaceful atmosphere despite the hotel’s central location. It was the perfect place to unwind after a busy day. This stay exceeded my expectations, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. Five stars all the way — highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable, friendly, and professional place to stay in Chelmsford.

I had a great stay here. Mansi and Sophie are the best one here, and went an extra mile with making our stay the best. They both made us feel really welcome. They have been so good and absolutely coming back here. Thank you.greats pints served. Peaceful town as well.

You should never expect luxury at a 2-3 star hotel. However, there are a few things that should be standard. For example, outlets by the bed. Or, at the very least, USB plugs. If no one is at reception, there should be a bell to let them know someone is waiting. This Travelodge, unlike other Travelodge's, had none of those things. The food is low quality, especially given the price. And they were always out of something. The staff are nice and friendly, and the rooms are quite comfortable. It's in a pretty good location - only about 10-15 min. walk to the city center.
