We wanted to visit the Mangshan Five Finger Peak Scenic Area, but there's no special tourist bus service in downtown Chenzhou. (We heard at the bus station that there are only four buses a day to the scenic area, and the latest return bus is after noon, which is too late.) We booked a day tour online and found this hotel near the departure point, a five-minute walk from the bus stop. The hotel has no frontage. Entering an elevator lobby, the first floor, facing the street, is filled with shops and affordable fast-food chains. Going up to the second floor is the reception, next to the breakfast room. Our room faced the street, and there was a wall in the middle of the window. It opened this year and was newly renovated and clean. There was plenty of hot water, the air conditioning was powerful, and the TV was large. There was voice control for the air conditioning, curtains, and lighting, but it often didn't work. There was no phone, but there was an intercom, but it didn't work. The toilet was heated, but that wasn't ideal in the summer. The bathroom shower was only half-glass, so the shower water splashed, and there was no floor towel. The room closest to the hotel's outdoor lightbox was very bright at night, as the curtains gapped even when pulled. Fortunately, it wasn't a big deal after a long day. Breakfast was 10 yuan and included nine options: eggs, steamed dumplings, steamed buns, corn, sweet potatoes, soy milk, porridge, fried rice, or fried noodles with freshly cooked noodles. The service could be improved. We booked a room with a window but were given one without. We later booked a room with breakfast included but were told it wasn't. We also forgot our disposable slippers on our first night and our hairbrush on our second.
