We stayed here for one night on our way further south of France. The hotel and staff were friendly and helpful. It wasn't a modern, but clean. We had a lovely enjoyable meal in the evening. You can chose buffet or from the menu. We had omelette, salad and fries and the portions were large. We had breakfast in the morning and there was plenty to chose from. We also fitted in a swim in there pool and before setting off we walked to the fort and had a fantastic day out!! I highly recommend the fort.

The hotel is your basic Ibis hotel, the room was a decent size with a coach that doubles as a pull out bed. Very comfortable and clean. Shower over the bath with good water pressure (I have thick long hair so it's important that I can actually wash and rinse it!) The room had a balcony and we paid for the view of the fortress (shame about the building works going on in front of the hotel). The hotel has a restaurant which is open for breakfast and dinner and measures have been put into place to meet the COVID-19 restrictions. The room next to us had a huge dog staying with them and who also joined them for breakfast. I didn't hear the dog, he was on their balcony and was peering over the wall at me! So the walls must be a little sound proof. The hotel had a covered pool, you need to ask the front desk for towels. I found the pool cold, but it is heated. Biggest issue was the parking, the spaces are extremely narrow. It is impossible to park next to another car and get my daughter out of her seat in the back of our car.

My husband and I stayed here overnight when travelling from Roscoff to Charente. Typical stay with an Ibis Styles, comfortable bed, free wifi, tasty breakfast. We were lucky enough to have a room with a balcony overlooking the chateau. The hotel was very quiet which meant we had a great nights sleep as expected. The hotel is very close to Chinon centre which meant we were able to walk into the town without worrying about parking. We both really enjoyed staying here and agreed that one night was definitely not enough!!

Very tired hotel despite beautiful location. This was. the third time we had booked the hotel but will certainly NOT be booking again! Two weeks ago on our way through France, our room was not up to standard, with no hand wash in the bathroom and a very mouldy shower. We had booked to stay on our return only to find a lot of the very limited menu was not available. We ordered one starter and two main courses+ two half carafes of wine and had expected to enjoy our meal with suitable service. However after two hours our table hadn't even cleared , let alone were we offered dessert so we decided to leave the restaurant. I did complain to the receptionist about the bad service. There was no response! I would not recommend this hotel, even for one night! Such a shame as it could offer so much more.

When you have an upset tummy in the night & need to use the loo several times, a scenario you do not want to encounter is a shortage of toilet paper. On arrival & before the emergence of the upset tummy, I'd noticed the 2 rolls of toilet paper in the loo looked like they were coming to the end. There was no spare in the bathroom & no box of tissues. To put not too fine a point on it, I was glad I had a few sheets of kitchen towel left over from a picnic, which I had to resort to. Calling housekeeping on the phone, in French, for more toilet paper whilst occupied with tummy pain, wasn't an option. So nil points for Ibis housekeeping. Also disappointing, as this was not a cheap overnight stop, was that no tea/coffee making facilities were privided in the room. You had to go down to reception to use the kettle tucked away in the corner for making drinks. Nice location by river with plenty of trees & a pleasant 15 minute walk into town. But overall disappointing & not equipped to standard expected for price paid. Wouldn't use Ibis chain again.

We had a very enjoyable overnight stay here. Very welcoming staff, very clean and comfortable room and an exceptional dinner. We met the chef, Junior and gave him our compliments for the delicious meal. Beautifully cooked, fresh and tasty. We are returning in May and look forward to our stay.
