These "mass production" hotels are definitely not my cup of tea. The room was spacious, but the dust blowing and circulating in the room was quite impressive. I could see it under the spotlight beam from the reading table. The shampoo, conditioner, and body soap on those containers fixed to the bathroom wall were not replenished... One bath towel was black stained. The shower box is those open types, and the entire bathroom gets wet after a shower. I chose this hotel based on trip.com and Google Maps reviews (unreliable) and the cost, in comparison with other similar pricing hotels. Mercure is a low-end hotel proposition. The public spaces of the hotel corridors are worn out. Guest laundry, smelly, machines falling apart and cost money to be used (I gave-up). I was not surprised with what I got--pretty much what I would expect from Mercure, adding to that the expensive cost of hotels stays in Australia compared to other countries. The fact is: my standard is based on hotels in Asia (China and Japan) where the hotel operators and owners focus on providing hospitality service and strive to make guest experience the best, no matter the price point. It's not that Mercure is bad. It is just that the Western world simply got old and tired, and the Asian world is uprising and continuously perfecting and improving what they learned from the West in the past. An analogy: a Mc Donald's restaurant in China, Japan, Korea, or Singapore serve the burgers resembling the pictures in their adds and displays, and taste delicious. No in the West. I travel all over the world, and I know what works, is fair, cost effective, and pleasant. I am not after luxury, I am after minimalist but complete and flawless hospitality. And I didn't find it here.

Where do I start? we paid ¥9.200 for 4 days to stay in this hotel only to spend 2 of those days worried about the cockroaches we found in the room.
As soon as we saw one, we immediately called the reception but no action. We went down to
the reception ourselves to report and show the guy there a photo that we took only to be told " Oh, poor guy" ( the cockroach not us). We told them to
help us deal with it then we went on our tour.
When we came back in the room, the cockroach was still there!!! we were told nobody went up as they forgot about it. We had to call three times before they finally sent someone!!!
on top of that, we found medicines under the table.

I stayed at the Mercure Hotel for 3 nights and enjoyed my stay. Brilliant facilities such as Eve’s Bar, the swimming pool and gym. It is also in a prime location, with a 2 minutes walk from Central Station. My room was immaculately clean and I had a great nights sleep.

Excellent location, just within 10 mins walk from Sydney Central Station, and also walking distance to China Town and Darling Sqaure etc. Many restaurants nearby and the room is spacious and neat. Highly recommend and will come agaIn next time.

Location location location ! We were so glad about the decision for the location! Perfect for exploring the surrounding! The hotel is very quite basic as a city hotel. Decent stay, breakfast is normal, nothing to shout out loud. 🙂

I recently stayed at Mercure Sydney and had a great experience. The location is absolutely perfect, especially for travelers, as it’s right beside Central Station, making it incredibly convenient to get around the city or catch a train to the airport.
The price was also highly affordable, offering excellent value for such a central and accessible spot. The rooms were comfortable and had everything I needed for a pleasant stay.
Overall, if you’re looking for convenience and affordability in Sydney, Mercure Sydney is a fantastic choice. I’d happily stay again!

Walking distance to the Central Station with eateries around…MacDonald 24hr is just opposite. There is bus stop outside the hotel..Room is spacious..The only drawback is only u will need to get your room slippers from the front desk and there is no free bottled water daily.

The pool was underwhelming in size of the hotel. It was difficult to relax with the number of children enjoying themselves and having a good time. The location adjacent to central station allows for seamless trips into the city. Overall, I would recommend the Mercure as a “pit stop” while enjoying the city of Sydney.

cleanliness - moving bugs were detected twice - on bed and towel… despite request for room cleaning every day
room size - very small and there is barely any space for luggages
customer support - slow response from receptionist, there was an incident of faulty safety box and we waited for more than 40 minutes before the engineer came to repair
toiletries are only provided upon request and long wait

What's good: 1. The location is excellent, near Central Station, and easy to access by train, metro, tram or bus. 2. The room is spacious and clean; the bed is comfortable, and the mood light makes us feel good.
What's not so good: 1. The basin water tap is a long type, which inconveniences guests when washing face . 2. The tea provided (brand: Dilmah) is an average quality tea that does not match the Mercure brand. Similarly, for coffee. 3. No raw sugar was provided to promote healthier food choices. Overall, it was a good stay with Mercure Sydney.
