Borgo Santo Pietro

📍 Località Palazzetto, 110, Chiusdino

"I’ve stopped reviewing hotels for years now but I feel like I needed to write about the service at Borgo Santo Pietro, so that they can look into it. Borgo Santo Pietro is the kind of hotel I have always loved to stay. Rustic-luxe, working farm, antique furnishings, lots of greenery, comfortable room, great food, and a fabulous spa that melts your body mind and soul. I have stayed at numerous top tier hotels similar to this over the years, for example Heckfield Place in England, Soho Farmhouse etc We were warmly welcomed by the owners Claus and Janette as soon as we got off from the helicopter, and had a lovely Florentine marbled making workshop with them. There’s a helipad in BSP so it is very nice and efficient. The hotel, surrounded by farmland and filled with stunning gardens and ponds, completely blew us away by its charm and beauty. The two connecting suites we stayed were simply fab. Extremely comfortable beds and linens, lovely touches here and there, in room floral bath prepped after our spa treatments. And oh yes, the SPA! It’s definitely one of the best I’ve ever been to. The 3 hours facial and massage I had with skillful Sara was everything I needed and beyond. Trattoria sull’Albero, the more casual restaurant as opposed to the 1 star’s Saporium, is better and less stuffy in my opinion. The manager (sorry didn’t get his name) knows his stuff and is the most well trained staff among all staff members in the hotel. He’s warm, friendly and professional. Food was excellent at Trattoria sull’Albero. Speaking of service. Was very let down when the reception staff asked for tips right after him showing us the rooms. I usually tip big but got very disgusted (and honestly shocked) being asked so, especially at a hotel in such high calibre. The beginning of our stay was spoiled by him. And guess what, he asked for tips again the moment we checked out. I did eventually tip the bell boys, not as much as I usually would tho, and definitely did not tip this reception guy. Why? Because tips are meant for great service. Capiche? First night was frustrating - power went out many times and came back on many times. So in between 11pm to 4am the lights went on and off more or less than 15 times. Tried calling the reception but failed to connect due to power outage. Talked to the staff the next day, all she did was brushing it off. Fortunately it got stable the second night. Well so, BSP was bittersweet for us. It’s a shame when the experience was ruined by lack of training, or sometimes just by 1 or 2 staffs, at such magnificent establishment. Sad and disappointing indeed."

Agriturismo San Galgano

"The hotel is clean and large. The location is actually a bit far from Siena, but the restaurant reviews were so good that I booked it with the idea of eating at Agriturismo for dinner, but it was a weekday in the off-peak season, so I didn't operate it .... If you are thinking about booking, please note this."

"A World-Class Masterpiece: Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, Tuscany From the moment my husband and I arrived at the Rosewood in Tuscany, it was clear we were experiencing something truly extraordinary — not just a resort, but one of the finest hotels in the world. Every element is perfection: the warm, professional, and impeccably attentive staff make you feel like the most important guest on property. Our ultra-luxurious villa stay was beyond anything we’ve ever experienced — spacious, exquisitely designed, and effortlessly elegant, topping even the most exclusive five-star resorts globally. The spa deserves special praise — I had the best facial of my life, a one-hour treatment using Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella products, complete with a facial massage that left my skin glowing and my entire body rejuvenated. Absolute heaven. The concierge team also made the impossible possible by arranging for us at the last minute to attend the Palio di Siena on our second night — a once-in-a-lifetime experience we will never forget. Thanks to them, we saw one of Italy’s most historic and thrilling events up close. The food is exceptional, the wines from the estate vineyard divine, and each meal felt like a celebration of Tuscan culinary artistry. Whether relaxing poolside, exploring the grounds, or sipping a Brunello with a sunset view, every single detail is flawless. A stay here isn’t just a vacation — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that sets an entirely new benchmark for luxury hospitality worldwide."

"Choosing Conti di San Bonifacio for our wedding weekend location is the best choice I could have made! The Villa & the grounds are absolutely stunning. Truly picturesque and magical. The CDSB is what made it the best weekend for us. Daria, Maria, Luisa and the rest of the staff made my family and I feel completely at home during our stay. No request was too big and they always did their best to provide us with whatever we were asking! Working with Daria during wedding planning was a pleasure. Our wedding was perfect and we could not have been happier with how the whole evening went. Chef Armando is AMAZING and every meal we had was fantastic. I truly can’t say enough good things about our experience here. It was the wedding of my dreams, so huge thank you to the staff as they made it all possible. We will definitely be back and will tell everyone about Conti!"

"An unforgettable Ferragosto with my friends in a structure naturalistically kept very well. The outdoor areas cared for in every detail. But the real magic was the evening entertainment: prestigious shows every evening, but especially the days of August 14 and 15, with in particular a show inspired by the world of opera with high-level artists and a real fireworks show. Everything surprising and absolutely unexpected. We will be back!"

"We had the pleasure of working with the Relais della Rovere as a hotel for some wedding guests and also for a welcome dinner. We highly recommend them for both! The relais was a wonderful place for guests to stay. It is a compelling, historic structure so rooms and layout varies greatly. That was just fine for us as the charm of a historic structure is what we preferred. I worked closely with Daniele for about a year before our daughter's wedding (early Oct 2025). Daniele was outstanding to work with for the details for the accommodations and also in helping me to work through other options and details including the welcome dinner. Thank you Daniele for your outstanding help! For the welcome dinner, Daniele connected me with Roberto. The initial draft menu that was proposed by Roberto and his team was fantastic. As the groom is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, New York; many of the wedding guests were as well. It was a group of with many talented chefs and restaurant owners. The entire wedding group is very food and wine oriented. The food, wine, service and setting/atmosphere of the welcome dinner was absolutely phenomenal! • Food -- exceeded our high expectations. We are just back in the USA after having spent a month traveling throughout Italy and some of our very favorite food anywhere was the welcome dinner. The carbonara with truffles was the best carbonara I have ever had. My first trip to Rome was in 1991 and I have enjoyed a lot of carbonara over the last 34 years. Kudos to the culinary team. • Wine -- Roberto and team were great in working with us in sharing extensive wine options. The wine (especially the Marchesi Mazzei Siepi 2019) were all outstanding. We pre-purchased many bottles of wine before the welcome dinner, but Roberto was kind enough to have extra on reserve for us. By the end of the wonderful meal, I believe we finished every bottle of the extra wine especially the Siepi. That was our absolute favorite wine for the entire trip. • Service -- was impeccable from start to finish; exceptionally well done. • Atmosphere/ambience -- outside in a beautiful setting with a stunning view of Colle di Val d’Elsa. Flowers, table linens, place settings ... it was all so beautifully done. It was a somewhat cool, early Oct evening and Roberto and team (on a Sunday) somehow managed to purchase enough blankets for the group. We were all so busy enjoying the food, wine and atmosphere that we don't have any photos from the evening. When I get some photos from our photographer, I'll come back and post some here. The relais took some video and photos, which I'm sure they can share with those interested. Daniele, Roberto, and the entire team at the Relais della Rovere -- thank you for one of the most magical evenings we have ever had! It was a highlight for the entire wedding group. The guests that stayed at the relais also had a wonderful time during their five day stay there."

Borgo Santo Pietro ★★★★★
"We decided to book here for my 40th birthday. Whilst it was undoubtedly beautiful, I don't think the management was what was required for the cost of the stay. Prior to staying my husband had organised for a birthday cake for the meal for my birthday as a surprise. Upon arrival three separate staff came to ask about details for the cake in front of me despite my poor husband trying to explain it was meant to be a surprise. The room was nice enough, but the shower leaked and it was clearly a recurrent problem as there was mould, which is not what I would expect for the cost of a night there. On my birthday itself, the hotel and staff did nothing at all to acknowledge it, despite the fact they must have known because of the cake and some friends had arranged for a bottle of champagne for me. I'm not saying they have to do anything, but at much cheaper hotels you would at least get something like "happy birthday" written on a plate, or at least have any member of staff acknowledge it. It was just missing the little extras that you would expect of a place of this calibre. There were also minor issues like housekeeping would always come to do our room whilst we were getting ready for dinner, despite the fact we had reservations at the hotel so they would have known when our room would be free. We did raise some of these issues with staff on a couple of occasions but just got a shrug of the shoulders and nobody cared. None of these issues would even merit comment were it not for how expensive the hotel is. Essentially the standards do not merit the price. The actual staff in the restaurants and the pool were great, but it was like the management side was missing. By comparison, we stayed at Lupaia and Reschio as part of this holiday and they were off the scale amazing. This was a similar price/more and disappointing in comparison."

Castiglion del Bosco, A Rosewood Hotel ★★★★★
"Went to check out this venue for my wedding. Granted I was there because my fiancé and I were looking at a full buyout of the property, it is over 1mil for a full buyout for 3 days. However the experience was terrible, first off they made us rent a villa for 17k for two nights for the two of us, we were supposed to be able to see the grounds and different villas, but they wouldn’t let us see inside of them due to “the fact they were being cleaned” I expressed I didn’t care and we would like to see this as it’s important and they wouldn’t let us. The Michelin restaurant on site was not that great, the other restaurant was better. We did not get to experience one aspect of the hotel because we were with the staff viewing the property, and then when we asked for a late checkout (their checkout is at 10am lol) they would not allow it, so this is why we decided not to go with this venue or ever come back here for vacation. Also when they tell you the property is 5000 acres, what they mean to say is their vineyard is 4995 acres and they have 5 acres of actual usable property by the resort."

"Gorgeous!!! The location is in a quiet area in the Tuscan hills. The property is perfect with every amenity that you would need, including a swimming pool that overlooks Olive groves and vineyards. There was always a nice breeze and the staff was so helpful and kind. My friend and I each did the tasting menu for dinner and the food was five star. I highly recommend if you are looking for an escape Near Florence this is the perfect place to go."

"Positive aspects: the whole resort is very beautiful and has large swimming pools; good entertainment Negative aspects: Apartment not very clean, full of dog hair Restaurant: poor food, waiting time of at least 1.5 hours for a meal, wrong dishes at every meal (lunch and dinner) No children's menu No wine list, only one white and one red available at a cost of 23 euros per bottle Fruit not available during the two meals Poor catering service The place is fantastic but the lunches and dinners were truly embarrassing and having taken the package with meals included we ruined part of our holiday"

"Stayed 3 nights in a superior room on a walking holiday. Room very nice but window set high so you couldn’t see out which was not ideal. Large bathroom area and comfortable big bed. Separate walking-in wardrobe. Breakfast self service style and fine. Pool generally quiet and relaxing. Location though not as rural as we expected. We were on a half board basis. The restaurant was very nice but the menu limited for half board. If you are staying longer than 2 nights it is restrictive. As am aside Colle Val d’Elsa is not the most picturesque Tuscan village."
