From Queenstown to Christchurch, I stayed in this old building from 1917, which was renovated by the University of Canterbury. The interior has obvious signs of renovation, and it is quirky and gorgeous, surrounded by art centers. The hotel is small and exquisite, and has a special style. The design and decoration of the room are very beautiful. It is only a 10-minute walk to the mall, which is very convenient.

Amazing

In Christchurch, a self-driving transfer station in New Zealand, I found this old building from 1917. It is very unique and the interior decoration is very eye-catching. It is surrounded by the Art Center and opposite the Botanical Garden. However, the windows are not soundproof, and the sound of tourists talking and vehicle loading and unloading outside is very loud, especially in the morning.

The hardware facilities are great. It is a very unique hotel. The interior is spotless and the service staff are very friendly. The location is also in the city center. It is very pleasant to get up early in the morning and walk around. It is worth experiencing.

The hotel is a renovation of an old building. The exterior is very beautiful, but the room is too small. I will not stay here again next time. I will just take some photos outside.

The location is super good, just a few minutes walk to the Avon River and the Botanic Gardens. The hotel is very unique and has obviously been renovated. It is very clean and the bedding is very comfortable. The experience is really great ~

The location of the hotel is great, right across from the Botanic Garden, a converted university, surrounded by art centers and restaurants, all very good. It's just that the parking lot is being rebuilt now. Our room happens to be on the first floor facing the parking lot. There is always light pollution at night, noise from the reconstruction construction, and the sound of cars coming and going on the street. The accommodation experience is very bad. Moreover, this room was originally prepared for disabled people. The equipment in the toilets are all disabled toilets. The bathroom is only covered with curtains. There is no door or bathtub. In addition, the water in the bathroom is very small. Depressed, or the city center facilities are not enough. All in all, this experience is not worth it at this price.

Quirky and classy boutique hotel located in arty area. Small rooms but nicely done. Friendly staff. Quite like a B and B. Not your standard hotel. Be sure to ask questions or check things out as the amenities are not obvious. (minibar/snacks). They over complicate how difficult shower is to work. Great location 'on campus' at University. Near boutique cinema, etc.

An amazing boutique hotel, beautiful building. Just the surroundings already takes the cake. The Hotel is classy, with tasteful decor, quality rooms, spotless clean, professional staff. And has other beautiful touches, as proper selection of loose tea leaf and biscuits in the lounge, coffee machine in the bedroom, filled minibar. Quiet with not a lot of rooms, feels exclusive, and at a handy location.

Stayed only one night, wished we had stayed more! Our room was beautifully appointed and very relaxing. The lounge by reception was a haven of coffee table books and big comfy sofas where we stopped after our night out on the town to have green tea, absorb some arty books, and meet some other guests. The location was perfect: close to the bars and restaurants on the Avon, plus the Arts Precinct. On top of all this, we stumbled on the exhibition upstairs in the tower of Waiatatanga. My heart was moved.

The Hotel is fantastic and quirky being so old and in a heritage building. We upgraded to the top floor rooms and it was well worth it, didnt like the yellow room. Its location is central and close to the bridge of remembrance and all the restaurants. The only negative is walking with all your luggage and stuff to the Hotel in the rain, but once you get over it WELL worth it :)

Beautiful staycation at The Observatory Hotel for a long weekend reset. Perfect place to base yourself to see the sights of Christchurch . Directly across from the Botanic gardens and walking distance to the city centre. Tram stops out the front as well. Beautiful hotel interiors and lovely sized rooms. I stayed in 212 and it was an end room overlooking the courtyard with lovely shades of blue . Beautiful fabrics and furnishings and really helpful staff. Lovely boutique hotel if looking for some peace and quiet. Continental breakfast is served on level 3 and they also have a small outdoor terrace to sit Good wine bar also in the building . Opposite the hotel . Easy Uber ride to airport Cannot wait to return .

Fantastic hotel located in the arts district of Christchurch. Housed in an historic building the interior is beautifully designed and decorated. Rooms are well appointed and very comfortable and the front of house staff were wonderfully helpful.
