Location and pools are 10/10. Nice for everything to be brand new with no issues. As for the restaurants onsite, they are much too expensive and limited menu. Only went to the sports bar which has an awesome environment, but very limited menu and much too expensive. The rest of my time at the resort, we left into town to eat.
The serving staff at the pools either hate their job or are overworked. Everytime I stopped one to order food/drinks they kept telling me they would either be back or said they would let our area server know.....waited about an hour before I walked to the bad and ordered drinks myself. Terrible attitudes and hospitality in the pools.

As a mom on a budget, I read through the reviews and planned ahead. Noted the pricey pool food, so I packed snacks, fresh fruit and juice for the kids along with cup o noodles, boiled eggs and kimchi for the room, post swim. Each room has a fridge and coffee maker. Rooms are fine, beds and pillows are great, TV is amazing, shower had great pressure I read about the annoying bathroom light and figured out how to disable it by taping a kleenex over the sensor. Worked like a charm. We have the Marriott Bonvoy app so we got our room numbers otw there at 12pm and we were swiftly checked into our rooms way before 3pm with 4 pool wristbands per room (age 3 n under are free). The housekeeping staff we came across in the hall were extremely friendly and welcoming. I thought check out was 12pm, but housekeeping said its actually 11am. No problem, we called for late check out and got it for 1pm. My 3, 5 and 7 year olds enjoyed the pools and did not want to leave. On a Saturday we were able to easily find a chair to drop off our stuff. Note, we did see towels on prime location chairs without belongings near, so we simply moved those towels to the bin and took over the area. Bring water toys for extended fun and going up and down from the room to the pool was a breeze. Valet is $65 (good gawd) and self parking is $45. It was a bit of a walk with luggage and kids in tow, but saving $20 is still a saving. We didn't eat at the restaurants downstairs but our other family did and it took 2 hrs for them to actually get their main course. I sent the husband out while we napped for Tacos El Gordo for us and pasta from Olive Garden for the kids. Ate comfortably in the room and took a nice stroll around the property after dinner. Bring right by the water its chilly, so pack a sweater. Do the homework, set your expectations and plan accordingly. We had a great time and will consider coming back.

I was concerned about bringing a group there in mid July because of the mixed reviews- there was NO reason to worry! Our experience was fantastic! The guest room was well appointed and comfortable. The meeting space was very conveniently located. The hotel had great outdoor meeting space. The on property restaurants were fantastic and the banquet staff was the best I have encountered in the last few years.

I do believe this resort has potential. Yes the oohs and ahhs are there but they need to work out some things. My husband has Titanium status with Marriott and we used points to stay two whole nights. He requested a marina view….well sure it was half the view of the marina and mainly parking lots. The next day he went and asked to be moved to a different room and this time we got the marina, pool, and bay view with a balcony. So wouldn’t you think the customer service agent who checked us in on Friday evening would have done that the first time? The waterpark was okay. Our son age 11 was bored within 2 hours. If you have small children this is the place. Also the service at the pool was less than 3 stars- my guess is that they do not have enough people working. They let the general public in , well that is fine but not on a Saturday as I felt hotel guests were sidelined for the locals. I understand about giving back to the community but not at the expense of paying guests. Oh one more thing hope you have a hefty pocketbook! The breakfast Buffett 45.00 per person and cocktails on average 15.00 and up! We didn’t do dinner or lunch there as we went out. It is a beautiful resort and the staff that was working were very respectful and kind. Would we go back? Probably not. Again a beautiful “showy” hotel. If you want to impress the soon to be in-laws or the soon to be family this is your place.

What a beautiful hotel full of amazing restaurants and hospitality professionals from all over!! First off, I want to thank Rich, the front desk manager for the amazing rooms on the 17th floor facing the ocean. We were celebrating a 65th birthday in our group and everyone… I mean EVERYONE delivered and made our group feel special. Adam at the speakeasy and steakhouse! A gentlemen and a scholar! Alejandro at the bar in the atrium was full of energy and excitement. We sat at the same spot 3 days in a row and from the time we met him he knew our drinks and kept the good vibes flowing!! Sushi dinner Thursday was out of this world with Chef Aaron and our server Brenda! Breakfast Buffet was out of this world extensive and reasonable priced for everything you get at $42 per person! Bring your appetite!! Alexis the omelette making man made the most delicious one I’ve had in ages! You just have to see this place in person to experience the full magnitude of the 1,600 rooms and 4 acre water world. Sports bar amazing food! Poop, amazing food and drinks. Bike rental with the resort fee along with Yoga!! Ladies did a Spa treatment! Loooooved it! Guys used the Sauna and Steam room!! We walked the grounds and the Bay Area! Valet parking service needs some training to open the doors for everyone coming and going. For $65 per night I’ve never seen so many guys just standing around talking and doing nothing while guests doors are left to themselves. They all seemed young and new and were friendly though. I would have ripped them more if they did a better job but they need some pep in their step! This large resort has everything and we’ll be back to enjoy the steakhouse and stay again!! Thank you Gaylord staff, we had a blast!

My extended family and I tried to get daily pool pass tickets so we could try out the new hotel when in San Diego the last week of July. All of us at the ready at 12am when available tickets go on sale a week in advance. None of us could get. The website crashed and when back up I finally got in to choose 4 tickets and it immediately crashed again. By 12:03 am it said all tickets were booked. Waste of time, has me doubting they ever really sell tickets for this.
