My passport was stolen in the UK and I had to go to the London consulate to apply for a travel permit. I chose one of the four-star hotels closest to the consulate. There were not many four-star hotel options nearby. This hotel was in a good location, walking distance from the Portland Street subway station. It took about 3 minutes. The surrounding area felt quite safe and it was considered a central area of London. The hotel rooms in the city center were relatively small. This was a hotel run by an Indian. The hygiene was a bit average. It was pretty passable. I didn’t book a hotel. For breakfast, there are Tesco Express, Boots, small restaurants, small shops, and coffee shops on several streets, focusing on convenience. But I hope I won’t need to come to the consulate to do these annoying things in the future...
