Stayed for four nights was a nice clean hotel in a good location thr parking was very tight and questionable but the staff had it very well organised. If I'm up that way again I would consider staying here again.

The 4-person female dormitory has a lot of space, with separate toilets, sofas, TVs, tables and chairs, but the location is a bit quiet, so be careful when going out alone in the morning and evening

Not bad, a little far from the train station, but close to the river, there are many bars. But the hotel is a bit old. There is a good English breakfast shop and ice cream shop nearby. Prosperity, democracy, civilization, and harmony are the value goals at the national level; freedom, equality, justice, and the rule of law are the value orientations at the social level; patriotism, dedication, integrity, and friendliness are the value criteria at the individual citizen level; Basic content of core values

The hotel was very clean , the staff very polite and professional. We stayed at the hotel because we went to see a stand up comedian in Newcastle that night and thought it would be nice not to have to drive home afterwards . We choose this hotel as the pictures looked great online and looked just as good when we got there . We would definitely stay there again if having a night out in Newcastle

I stayed 4 nights as part of a National Coach Holiday trip, with Bed Breakfast and Evening meal included in the package. The location of the hotel and the communal areas cannot be faulted, and all areas were very clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. The big disappointment was being told that we could not get our evening meal until 7.30pm. We had to pre book from a 3 course menu on arrival and subsequently each evening. 7.30 pm was late for a lot of us, being of a mature age! Also service was badly planned as the waiting staff came out and went round the room asking who was having which dish. This not only took a lot of time and also some people forgot what they had pre -ordered. With 3 courses to serve we did not finish until 9pm. This is not the waiting staff's fault, but bad management practice. However on the fourth night, all was chaos. two more coach parties had been booked in and there was mayhem, and a near riot in the dining room with about 160 people trying to get seated. it was after 8pm before service started, again not the fault of the staff. A lady on our table did not get her starter at all. I think she was quite relieved as Bruschetta does not consist of a lump of soggy brown bread, a roughly chopped tomato, some thick slices of onion, and the half dead and wilted salad greens which were served with most meals. No apology from the management. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms were a good size and were clean, but the bathroom was shabby, chipped bath and basin and a toilet seat that was not very secure. The beverage station did not get replenished until Thursday, and the dirty mugs did not get replaced throughout our stay. The. basin tap broke on Thursday morning, which I reported, but it did not get fixed. Can't fault the staff, but working practice and management leave a lot to be desired. Thank goodness for my fellow travellers, whose friendship and brilliant sense of humour made it all worthwhile. Also thanks to National Coach Holidays and our driver.

Excellent location however the main door to the hotel is very unassuming looks like an entrance to a block of flats i walled right by it and had to ask a local where the entrance was. Sadly both the lifts were out of service and I had to lug my 24kg suitcase up three flights of stairs to reach the reception , where they informed me that the lifts were out, ucily there was a service elevator we could use. The room was clean and quite well furnished no complaints. There as breakfast included and was really quite good, only the plats and classes were not washed up very well. they had a nasty odor to them and there was still food and grease on some of the plates on the new plate stacks.

Well what a little gem of a Hotel. Beautiful location right next to the Castle and near the Quayside. We had a lovely stay, the Staff were fantastic! So helpful and polite and friendly and very very professional. We felt very special and looked after. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our room was lovely. We didn't have any meals there except for breakfast which was tasty and there was plenty of options, the Staff in there again were very lovely and attentive. Saying all this a couple of little niggles the Hotel was so hot! To be fair the weather was beautiful when we were there but there is no air conditioning in the building. I do appreciate it is an older building and it's not always possible to install Air Con Units but a few fans scattered around would have made it a bit more bearable in the public areas . There was a fan provided in our bedroom which was very welcome as the sun facing the windows all day ! We also found the bed not very comfortable, the mattress was too hard for our liking but then this may suit other people so it's not a criticism really of the Hotel more our preference to have a softer mattress. All in all we Would definitely go back to this hotel but I think I would go in the colder months.

Really lovely hotel. Had a premium room with a bath in the bedroom. Dead comfortable bed, nice bar and nice staff. Sadly the only let down was they evening meal. Cassoulet it was not. More a watery stew with beans and a bit of confit duck and pork belly in it. Food aside( i presume chef was on a night off ) the place is great. They took of the wine from our bill to apologise. Would i go back. Absolutely but would probably eat out

GGuest UserThis was a fabulous stay All Staff are a credit to the hotel, with spacious rooms, cleanliness top notch, everything you could need and require in your room, so many items that you would not even realise you would need was in the room, I liked the fact had a small functioning kitchen with hob and dishwasher, a recliner sofa to watch TV from, even tissue on the coffee table, instructions for the appliciances, cleaning products and safe... When I say they have thought of Everything I meant it! It like home from home. The Rooms were comfortable, beds were a great size and so comfortable, very clean and fresh linens, big bathroom, good view from the floor we stayed on, breakfast was buffet style but well thought out and food fresh and hot, staff attendance was good ratio and they were attentive and very cheerful and helpful, also parking was a good price as well. I was also impressed with the fact of small details like a 24hr pantry shop which perfect for family guests, quieter seating/dining area for guests who don't have children, children area, radio on for a cheerful breakfast experience. Lots of little details and extras is what made our stay a good one, we will definitely use the hotel again, 1 million percent I'd recommend this hotel to others as well, keep doing what you do because your smashing it! And all at a good fair price as well!! A must try!

GGuest UserWell what a little gem of a Hotel.

GGuest UserI stayed 4 nights as part of a National Coach Holiday trip, with Bed Breakfast and Evening meal included in the package.

GGuest UserI did have issues whilst I was here, namely having to move room twice. The staff were so accommodating though that I was looked after well. The rooms could do with some work but it was warm, comfortable beds, hot running water and good food in the restaurant - although you ought to book because it can get quite busy with functions. The rooms on the back can be a bit noisy with the trains but not overly so. There is a fridge and hairdryer in each room and a desk if you need to work - but you can also do this in the bar. Good food and drink is served and the jacuzzi, pool, sauna and steam room are certainly worth a go - very relaxing. Breakfast is a huge buffet - worth the money to fill up for the day. Hotel location is fantastic - right in the middle of everything.

GGuest UserGreat location close to train station. Very clean modern hotel at a good price. Nice pretty chicks at the reception. Very comfortable bed and a great bathroom. Many attractions near the hotel. Snacks and drinks are available from the vending machine. There are code keys everywhere, which means that outsiders have limited opportunities to roam around the hotel. The only downside turned out to be that a room with a window means a room with a window to other windows from which other residents were staring.

GGuest UserWhen we eventually arrived at the hotel after very confusing directions to gain access to the car park, we received a friendly welcome from staff. We were allocated a first floor family room which was very spacious and clean. Plenty of towels, nice bedding and plenty of teas abd coffees alongside the kettle. The jvc TV was excellent with Netflix ab plenty of channels. The breakfast was complimentary abd continental. On tip woukd be to get down to the bar early. We left it until 9.45 and there was very little left. The nice waitress was very attentive however and replenished things that were missing. I woukd also suggest that you pay the £50 damage charge in cash so that can be given back to.you quickly unlike card payments that may take longer. All in all a good stay and webwoukd definitely return..

GGuest UserLocated in Asian quarter of town. Accessible by 10 11 38 bus from Grainger street. Very large old building on same site as a. tyre centre and car wash. Very neglected. Carpets and drapes need deep cleaning. Furniture is all dark wood. Has a lift that's broken front door doesn't lock. All rooms have issues. Rooms have key card entry. I got an upgrade but even that room had issues. Hotel has power saving lights. Very nice shower facilities. Smart TV with YouTube and or Netflix. Beds very old. Bedding old Rooms very large. Hotel generally quiet. Outside noise is an issue. Staff on site don't speak much English. Coffee bar downstairs held a function that went on until 2am. Very cheap hotel. Not up to my standard. Suites have mini fridge and microwave and kettle and sink all hidden in cupboards. Cutlery and crockery. Suites and multiple bedded rooms next to each other. Very confused set up

GGuest UserGrainger Hotel is a nice hotel at all. The room is neat and the counter is very helpful. There is a supermarket nearby so that you can get everything you need. It would be a 30-minute walk from station to hotel and you need to walk up some gradient. The streets may be dirty so don't put bags on the ground.

What travellers say about Newcastle attractions

Discover these places worth visiting in Newcastle and select a hotel nearby for ultimate convenience
Chinatown Express
Kken_travelThis is a very good street, close to the Newcastle football team's main venue St James'' Park and a large proportion of Chinese students newcastle business college, and near the city center monument. Some Chinese supermarket goods in the block cannot be bought elsewhere, and the business is very good. Some restaurants have to take the elevator directly upstairs to eat, it is rare here, it can be seen that the commercial density here is larger than the surrounding area. There is also a Chinese medicine museum. The most conspicuous is the city wall, which was left by a large lead pigment factory before.
Newcastle Castle
3300***74From Durham by car north, to Newcastle, compared to Durham Village, Newcastle is a big city, at Durham Railway Station, I also saw several students who went to Newcastle to eat, the train arrived in about ten minutes. Here I actually saw the wall, the Great Wall of Hadrian, in fact, this is the northernmost border of the Roman Empire's British province, and there is a similar work with China's wall, which is to defend against the northern invasion. Along the Tyne River from west to east is the entrance to the sea. The King of England built castles, made of wooden spires and earthen exterior walls. The new castle is the source of Newcastle's name.
Newcastle Cathedral
MM32***23St Nicholas Cathedral The cathedral is beautiful and shocking. I happened to meet the choir singing, very beautiful harmony, echoing in the church for a long time, sacred and solemn! It is worth to experience carefully...
Gateshead Millennium Bridge
Kken_travelI didn't see it last time. This time I rushed early to see the Millennium Bridge rise. Although I gave a weekly timetable for the daily Millennium Bridge rise, it may also be adjusted, and it will be early today. The whole bridge is lifted and put down for about15-20 minutes. There are broadcast instructions before and after, and there are also ships responsible for safety on the water. During the process of rising and falling, no boats passed.
Central Station
BBio____manA station with classical architecture and pleasant atmosphere! I was with my bike and I face no inconvenience travelling with it. The staff was nice and guided me to load my bike on the train.
Leazes Park
Kken_travelFree. 1. General park is forbidden to feed animals, here staff told me that this park is mainly to feed swans (be careful, it is specially made for feed, and he was bruised by swan several times, fortunately he found it accidental and interesting). There were swans, geese, ducks, pigeons, his explanations made me know the swans, and told me that at most there were six or seven swans, and swans did not migrate, and sometimes at night the swans would be dragged away by wild dogs, so... Now there is only one male, one female, two big swans, and one small swan. I have always heard that the UK prohibits fishing, and I saw many people fishing in this small lake for the first time here. Do I know that they have permission? 3. This park has lakes, green spaces, basketball courts, tennis courts, mazes, small gardens, play area, etc. It is the most rich design in several parks I have ever seen. 4. There is also a farm, you can contact cattle from 0 distance, but don't mess with them, you are responsible for the accident! Most importantly, there are three urgent needs, please go to the public toilet in that cafe.
