The hot spring hotel is very close to Yubatake. The Yubatake is beautiful at night. The hotel's Keishi cuisine is delicious and well presented. There is also a QR code for breakfast and dinner to let you scan and explain what each dish is. They are very attentive. The hot springs are also very comfortable. They are switched between morning and evening, so you can soak in the hot springs on both sides. The waiters were very nice and provided warm hospitality. I will definitely stay here again next time I have the opportunity.
A very old hot spring hotel, well worth a visit. There is enough space in the parking lot. Everything is complete and comfortable once you check in. The hot spring is very good and effective.
Staff is extremely friendly, hotel is the mix of modern and old fashion style. Kitchen and common room are modern and clean, bath is authentic. Room is spacious and comfortable. Only thing is the location, it’s up on a hill and around 10 mins walk. So if you’re driving, recommended. If you’re taking public transport and a good walker, recommended. If not, still recommended. 10/10
Nice little japanese style hotel woth great services. The hotspring in house are great for couples and families with privacy. The foods they served are quite good too.

GGuest UserThis was my first and only stay at a ryokan so I don’t have much to compare it to. I chose this lodging because of the cats and good reviews on the food. The cats were really sweet and I enjoyed playing with them. I have 2 cats of my own so it was really nice. The food was so beautiful and delicious - the mushroom soup at dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The private bath rooms were very convenient and open 24 hrs. I thought the facilities were clean and very pleasant. The location was very close to the central area and a quick walk to all the important sites including the bus station. The only comment I have was in the morning someone was smoking and the smell got ****** into the 2nd floor hallway so maybe more care should be taken to be sure the smoke stays outside. The host was so nice and sweet and I used google translate to ask questions. The matcha madeleines are so tasty I bought a box to take with me.
GGuest UserThis is definitely an underrated hotel! Both the lobby and the room are very clean, tidy and comfortable! The tatami beds and quilts are very comfortable! There are also private hot springs that can be reserved! Enjoy the snow while soaking in the hot springs! It is worth the experience! We arrived at the hotel at noon and learned that we were going to the ski resort. The uncle in the store immediately drove us there! So touching! The service is really great! It completely exceeded my expectations! I will continue to make reservations next time... By the way, the welcome grapefruit tea is so delicious...
LLim familyIt’s a bit hard to get to the hotel from bus terminal if u have luggage with u as it’s a downslope to get to the hotel. There’s also isn’t any lift in the hotel so we have to carry our luggage up to the second floor. We realised when we checked out that there’s actually locker for the luggage at the ground floor. There’s only one type of water in their public onsen which is kind of disappointing as we have high expectations since it is an onsen town. The onsen water however is good. We do feel some difference before and after onsen. There’s also free coffee & hot chocolate drinks right outside the onsen area. It would be better if there’s ice water in the onsen area as the water can get very hot & especially when there’s no cold tub there. The room however is spacious with comfortable bed. There’s also a foot bath located at the ground floor of the hotel right beside the breakfast area.
SSinPros:
1. The room was incredibly spacious, with 4 beds even though we were only a party of 3. The mountain view from the room was fantastic!
2. Overall cleanliness was good.
3. Excellent location near Yubatake, where local shops and dining options are plentiful.
4. The private onsen was amazing, with a convenient button to refill hot water into the tub.
5. Special afternoon and evening times offered free food at the lounges, including ice cream, turnip soup, sausages, noodles, and special amenities like complimentary interdental brushes and facial masks.
6. Hotel staff provided excellent and efficient service.
7. Dinner was a delightful 7-course meal, with each evening featuring a different menu.
8. Breakfast was quite good with a decent variety.
9. The complimentary parking area was spacious with plenty of spots, located right next to the hotel entrance.
Cons:
1. There isn't much to criticise about the place. Perhaps the breakfast spread could vary slightly each day.
GGuest UserLocation is good, easier accessible from the bus station and within 3 minutes walk from the Yubatake. But it is surrounded by construction and therefore the view is not attractive.
Service quality is good, staff are friendly, helpful and responsive.
Food quality overall is fine. Yet tradition Japanese cuisine would make the experience of an onsen vacation whole more than fusion cuisine.
Choice of onsen is limited versus the price level. Only 1 public bath is available. The 4 rental baths add more to the range of choice but they are quite quickly occupied.
SSRL13064Excellent service. I will give 10 out of 5 if I could.
There was a staff who rushed out to us and asked if we were going to stay at the Ryokan. Very helpful for lost travelers overwhelmed by the cold weather. Greeted us warmly when we arrived. Explained the important information to us as best as they could in English, which is perfectly fine.
Room was big. Decorated meticulously in the traditional Japanese style. Yukata and Obi provided added on to the immersive experience.
Dinner was exquisite. Dishes gave us a taste of what traditional Japanese cuisine was like. The food was sincere (didn’t feel like frozen / canned / ready made food), served and plated meticulously.
There were 2 onsens, indoor and outdoor. They were clean and spacious enough. Water (I believe) is from the hot spring nearby and was immensely therapeutic.
Ryokan was near the heart of the town and everything was within walking distance.
Kindly shuttled us to the bus terminal when we checked out (we didn’t have to wait for fixed timings) and carried our (heavy) luggage.
All in all, we enjoyed the one night stay very much and they set a high bar for Japanese hospitality.
WWONGARTIf you want to experience authentic Japanese tatami-style accommodation and stroll around in traditional yukata, this is a great choice. The hotel is conveniently located near all the hot springs, and accommodations here include a rich dinner and breakfast. It’s highly recommended for families or couples traveling together. I highly recommend it!
GGuest UserOverall staying in this hotel was pleasant, and it was of great value considering the package had already included dinner and breakfast buffet.
Regarding location, it was a bit far from the bus terminal by walking. It took us about 15 minutes, as the route by Google was not quite correct. The main entrance of the hotel was up on a slope, which was not as easy as we were carrying luggage.
Remember to ask the front desk for the password of the back gate. It was a short cut route leading to the main shopping street and the Kusatsu Yubatake.
The room was pleasant and clean, a bit too basic. There was only a socket near the tv wall, not close to the bed, which was a bit inconvenient.
There was wide range of food in the buffet, with some interesting local dishes. Food was delicious. The hotel also offer free late night snack noodle, which worth trying too.
GGuest UserThe staff is very earnest and helped with the luggage and all. They just recently renovated their room with brand new air con unit and new smart lighting with remote and while the exterior may not look dashing, it is very clean and comfortable inside the room. The shared bathroom is clean and often empty as well as they have a few of them.
GGuest UserExcellent stay! Hotel may be old but the facilities are up to date and clean. Service from staff is also generally good. 7mins walk to Sainokaiwara Park via the short cut. It’s a 15mins walk from Yubatake and you’ll need to walk up a slope to get to the hotel, may be strenuous for those with luggages. There’s a shuttle bus to and fro hotel to Yubatake every hourly, refer to photo. There’s even a shuttle bus to Takasaki train station, so ask the staff for details. Breakfast in hotel is excellent and very homely, overall enjoyed my stay here and will recommend friends to come!
