Find the Cheap George Town Hotels

I am a frequent traveler, and I never had a horrible experience if the word ‘bad’ is not enough, such as my second stay at Spices Hotel Penang. I booked a Deluxe Room, which obviously according to the description is not the smallest room they have since the room space is 19-meter sq, still bigger than the Superior room which is only 17-meter sq. Upon my arrival, I was given a room called ”Mint Room” which is totally in a separate building from the main hotel building I used to stay in before (this was never mentioned in the advertisement for the room) And guess what? I did my measurement, and the room was only 3 meters wide and less than 4 meters in length ~which meant less than 12-meter sq including the bathroom, OMG. There was no city view like they said in the description, it was a narrow concrete wall outside the window, complete with the view of an AC outdoor unit. After I came home, I checked on booking.com, there is nothing like my room in all of the pictures shared for Deluxe rooms or even for the pictures of the Superior rooms. And as I continued to compare I noticed there is only one picture that matches the concrete wall outside the window complete with the AC outdoor unit like I had, on the Superior room description! Did Spices Hotel give me the wrong room? My bad experience didn't stop there. Please at all costs avoid the rooms in this separate building. There was no such soundproof at all in the room. Our room was on the second level, and at ground level was a Japanese restaurant TONARI. So expect to hear people talking loudly until midnight, and when the restaurant closed, it was just getting worse with the sound of its employees cleaning up and brushing all the utensils. Good luck with a good night's sleep. Then, the no soundproof saga was not ended. During my stay there I could hear the alarm from guests next to my room which was super irritating. Every day starting from 3 am, and just stop ringing until 6 am. Was somebody dead in the next room? Please Spices Hotel, do some soundproof works, your guest needs to take a rest. Also, four of the pillows provided were hard foam and only one extra pillow was soft microfiber. It's not the standard of a hotel room. For 3 nights stay, there was no housekeeping service whatsoever that came and cleaned our room. I had to ask the reception on the first night to come to refill the body shampoo. Even with putting the sign “please clean our room”, nobody came to clean. So we ended up using the same towels throughout our stay. Like I said before, my room was in a different building from the main hotel (Is that the reason for the whole bad experience/service?) which was not mentioned in the ad. Because this was my second stay with Spices Hotel, I can say that this was a completely different experience and out of my expectation of Spices Hotel's good reviews before. This was whether Spices Hotel gave me the wrong room or they were not being honest that such a low-budget standard room was ad

Good on overall. Near town. But not enough pillow. Need to rent the pillow. Geez. But okay. Good place to rest.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Campbell House. Excellent location and reception staffs were welcoming and very helpful. They provided us with maps & recommendations after check in. Always asked us about our day and highlights. Thank you for a memorable experience! The room is very clean although small for 2 to share. I would recommend the double room for one traveller or short/weekend travellers with less luggages.

this hotel located at the busy penang road and next to many eateries that penang is famous for. the room is clean, comfortable bed with nice pillows but it's not noise proof as you can hear the engine of the passing motorcycles especially

New hotel less than a week after opening. The room is high in value and the design is fashionable. The hotel has limited parking spaces and cars can be parked on the street. Once you get to the hotel floor, you need to take the elevator to the second floor to check in. Because of the early arrival of the hotel, there was no sign of the front desk when I arrived, and I waited for the front desk staff to return soon. The kind smile and service attitude made up for the previous shortcomings. The most need to improve is the sound insulation of the room. When there is a vehicle passing, I feel like I am sleeping on the roadside and I am noisy all night. This hotel is really good if I am not afraid of being disturbed by the sound.

Clean and compact hotel that’s fairly new, but there were many issues with my room: •Toilet bowl was faulty on the first night and the following night the air-con broke down – changed rooms as a result • WiFi was spotty and weak – used my phone data for the bulk of the time • Be reminded that you need to place a tag on your door for room service. No one communicated that to me (until Day 4 after multiple times of feedback given) so my room was left as is for days. Tips: • They don’t serve hand soap, but you could use the body soap provided in the shower as a substitute. • There are no facial tissues, so toilet paper is your alternative.

It is our first time visiting Penang. We love the city, and we are blessed that we stay in Hotel Malaysia. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Especially Hassan, who cleaned our room. Ms. Farah, front desk officer. The hotel is humble, old building and simple but very homy and clean knowing the building age.the breakfast is simple but clean and tasty. The bed sheets, towels, blanket are clean, no bad smell. The bed is firm, not sinking, the pillow is good not flat or dusty. Amenities is very simple bit okay. Staff is helpful when we need anything. We stayed with the Ascott group numerous times for its cleanliness and well-maintained facilities around the world, and Citadines Connect Georgetown is no exception. The building is renovated from a historical building which gives the hotel a mixture of cultural and contemporary vibe. It's a 3-story newly-built hotel and everything you see is brand new and tidy. The lobby is not large, but there are plentiful spaces to rest for a while. The room we stayed in is Studio Executive, and it's clean enough. The air-conditioning system utilized a touch panel for you to easily adjust to your liking. There are no drinking bottles inside the room but a water dispenser is just in the hallway, both environment-friendly and convenient. One of the things worthy of notice is the tap water system, where hot and cold water may be installed conversely. The hotel itself is located around minutes walk from Komtar neighborhood, and you can easily take buses to the airport or to other areas of Penang via the Komtar terminal. Several malls are also in this area to give you the convenience of shopping. The well-known hawker food centre at Lebuh Presgrave crossroad is also close by, where you can easily grab most of the famous and delicious local dishes here. CAT bus station is also not far from the hotel, and you can tour the UNESCO sites with it for a day trip. Overall, it's an excellent choice to stay here for its brand-new facilities, and its convenience regarding transportation, shopping, and dining.

We had a pleasant three-day stay at this hotel. The hotel is in an excellent location, situated between two large malls with plenty of shops and restaurants and within a reasonable cab ride to both George Town and Batu Ferringhi. The room was quite spacious but a little bit dated and worn down. It could use a refresh. The bed was very comfortable, however, and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. We enjoyed using the beautiful infinity pool. Service was friendly and efficient. One area that could use improvement is the breakfast. Although there is a good variety of items offered, many just weren't very tasty. The best thing on the buffet was the homemade ice cream. Overall, this is a good place to stay when exploring the island of Penang.

The attitude of the store clerk was very good, but the cockroach in the room was as big as a northern mouse. It was the biggest cockroach I have ever seen. It scared me so much that I could only turn on the light to sleep in the middle of the night.
