Dirty, mouldy, smelly, damp. This place is absolutely disgusting. Nearly left and slept in the car. Shower door doesn’t close, shower is dirty and mouldy, toilet unclean and no toilet paper provided. Horrible smell in the room, felt like I had never been cleaned.

Friendly welcome, shown to the Calder Suite.First impression was light and airy.Clean white linen on bed, pure white towels. One of four lights in bathroom worked, shower drain filthy, window sill filthy with dead bugs ,mould and bits of old paint. Toilet seat dirty and badly stained. Bed frame, bedside cabinets, dressing table ,occasional table 'filthy. Coffee tray dirty, kettle dirty, sugar, tea, coffee holder filthy. Yukky stains on lounge chair, carpet and dressing table chair. Even the TV remote is filthy. Fake plants in corridor thick with dust. Breakfast was very good. Never again.

The room was very dusty and looked like it had not been cleaned in a while and the manager was rude. Staying for a wedding nearby and ruined the whole day. Would definitely NOT recommend this hotel.......................................

AVOID! Well, I thought Whalley was a classy location for up market bars and pubs, how wrong I was….in The Swan on Saturday 22nd March 2025, it was like a dodgy Victorian East End of London boozer where the staff abuse or intimidate you for no reason. I visited with 5 friends and unfortunately, all of the 6 drinks, bitters & lagers, ordered were off, i.e, flat and smelly. Therefore, we politely asked if we could swap them for something else. Interestingly, about half of the other pumps were empty or not working… Clearly, the pump lines, barrels? and I think the glasses were dirty…. All we received was a tirade of abuse and shouted at to leave. Both ladies serving were rude and from reading the other comments on here, it has sadly been a recent and common theme. My advice is avoid, avoid, avoid! Recommend The De Lacy Arms - 5 ⭐️

Website looks great and for all intents and purposes it read and sounded like a nice wee village pub with rooms, which it is, but neither the pub or the rooms were nice really. It’s never a good sign when the staff put the radiators on when showing you the room, the heating went off somewhere around 7.00pm and I was freezing all night. The bar was lovely and had about 20 paying customers but they just approached us at 9.30pm and announced they were closing it now…. The second night we only got back from work at 9.45pm and the whole place was in darkness, we had to go in a back door straight to bed, for another cold night. Wouldn’t recommend it. Sorry

Me and my husband stayed in this hotel last night and we had a lovely time. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. The breakfast was so good. The location was perfect for us. I would highly recommend it and we we will definitely be returning.

I stayed at the Swan because I had a wedding to attend nearby. Be aware that they use ANPR for parking, but go inside and they will take your reg and exclude the charges (I'm guessing this is standard for all guests, but don't quote me on that.) Check-in was very smooth. The staff member took me upstairs (showing the fire exits along the way) and explained breakfast times. There was a kettle and plenty of coffee/tea/milk in the room. Decor could use a bit of refreshing, but it was good enough for what I needed. Had a good full English breakfast on both days of my stay. All in all, it does what it says on the tin. I had a few nice pints, a good night's sleep, and a refreshing shower in the morning. Most importantly, the staff were friendly and helpful. Last thought, Uber operate in this area, in case you want to sample the various pubs nearby. Better safe than sorry!

The room was lovely and warm, nice and clean, big bathroom, nice deep bath but sadly the shower not so good as it was either very very hot then it would go cold, but bathroom was lovely and clean. Had good food and staff were lovely and very kind, even offer to carry my bag upstairs, as due to the age of the building , the stairs are narrow and steep.
