Ennerdale Country House Hotel ★★★

"Friendly helpful staff Lovely breakfasts Very well placed to explore the local area including local walks and further afield Local taxis available and helpful"

YHA Eskdale ★★★

"Lovely Hostel with amazing views. Nice and clean in all areas. Very disappointed with the vegan breakfast, please get rid of those sausages, they are awful, get some proper vegan ones instead and maybe some mushrooms and how can you charge the same price as a full English with bacon etc. £9.95 was a rip off for the vegan version!"

Travelodge Workington ★★★

"A comfortable room warm and clean bed was a bit uncomfortable and mattresses could do with attention "

Seacote Hotel ★★★

"An amazing hotel with friendly helpful staff. Room comfortable with a large bathroom. The food was tremendous and I recommend the steak and ale pie."

Moresby Hall Country House Hotel ★★★

"I arrived on a stormy night in the lake district - on entering the hotel I was met with a warm glow from the log fire and a very warm welcome from the receptionist. As the hotel dining room was about to close, a room was sorted and the kitchen kept open for an evening meal - a delicious melt in the mouth steak was a pleasure after a 6 hour drive from the south of england, washed down with a welcome glass of Shiraz. The bed was very comfortable, the room had a large bath and separate shower cubicle and copious hot water. The decor and fittings were in sympathy with the age and history of the hotel, a pleasant change from the blandness of more modern mass market hotels. The staff were very friendly and it was a pleasure to be assisted without having to use automated impersonal systems. I will not hesitate to stay at the hotel again when I am next in the area."

The Kellbank ★★★

"Very clean hotel. It was a memorable stay during the solar eclipse. Not far from the beach. The hotel was  a bit far from the main lakes, but still reachable. The food was lush, especially dinner, variety of choices from the menu. Added bonus, it’s dog friendly. Could do with a fan in the room tho."

The Red Admiral Hotel ★★★

The Mansion ★★★

"Our stay was for the start of the Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge... Very comfortable beds, nicely decorated rooms, (rooms were altered just for our use, 3 twin rooms). A very pleasant B&B ran sufficiently and very well organised, very clean and well presented, breakfast was perfect with plenty of tea, coffee and juice. Only drawback, it was a taxi ride into town but had an 'honesty' relatively well stocked bar... I would certainly recommend this hotel.."

Powter Howe ★★★

"It’s a lovely spot with a fantastic view and a welcoming host. The breakfast was delicious, and the fireplace adds a cosy touch. Just keep in mind that being an older English house, it might not be as spotless as some other places."
