The first time was six years ago, the service quality was very good, so it was my first choice when I came to Ireland after the new crown. Unfortunately, the whole feeling this time was far from the first time, and I was quite disappointed☹️… First of all, the wireless network in the room was often interrupted or there was no signal. I called the front desk and the reply we got was that the signal was not good in the countryside. Now that technology is so advanced, such a reason is really far-fetched. Secondly, there was no drinking water in the room. I asked the waiter to bring water, but the waiter asked us to get it ourselves. Is this the service that a star-rated hotel should have? I understand that the store uses handwritten menus to show their high-end, but the font of the entire menu is very difficult to read. It is so dense that people feel dizzy. It is not the kind of comfortable and clear font and layout. Since it is a castle hotel, people should be able to walk around. It was possible six years ago, but now many places are surrounded by gates. It is impossible to walk around.

My wife and I went for dinner last night and were welcomed with a Prosecco reception (usual on a Sunday evening apparently) and a brief but very amusing history of the area and of the Hotel given by Ronan Hughes, the owner who describes himself as a “decent hotelier” !! Well, he and his staff certainly live up to that description. Everyone was also welcomed with a photo of themselves as a momento - a lovely touch Ronan’s warmth and welcome made for a very enjoyable evening- the food was very good too ! He even joined us to chat further bringing a glass of wine with him for us !! A further very nice and appreciated touch was that improved our glasses to Riedel ones. He welcomed various other diners with “happy birthdays” and congratulations for a 40th wedding anniversary. Well done Ronan, we will be back soon !!

Absolutely fabulous! Wonderful room with a view, inside and out! Superb breakfast options, loved the fresh fish, how often is that an option? I had seabass fillet in breadcrumbs, delicious. It is a wonderful place to stay and base yourself to visit so many of Connemara’s delights. We both highly recommend Julia and Paddy’s place for amazing hospitality, wonderful home and such attention to detail. We will be back.

Upon arrival at the hotel, Brian, the owner and our host for the evening greeted us at our car and helped us with our bags! He also invited to join him (and other hotel guests) to join him in the bar for a grand reception, where the prosecco and conversation flowed freely as he gave us a discourse on the hotel’s history, took photos of each couple, and called us each by name! Dinner was divine, with tables decorated by flags representing guest home countries. Brian was present in every detail and so cordial to everyone! Later, Brian excused the hired pianist to play and sing some of his favorite Irish and American songs! It was such a fun and memorable evening, we didn’t want it to end! Well done, Brian! Thanks for the memories!

An amazing nugget in the beautiful town of Clifden in Connemara. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave you feel special. The staff and owners know how to look after you with food and drinks and amazing banter. I couldn’t recommend it any more highly.

It’s obvious that attention to service is their #1 priority, making you feel welcome. The owners talk on Tues was interesting. The food was okay but they made up for just okay food with good service. The room was clean and the bed comfy but the shower had little water pressure. It’s a lovely hotel but could use a refresh.
