We wanted to visit a waterfall, and after searching, found this pub with the walk down to a small cove. The pub is dog friendly, and on Sunday has a carvery between 12 and 4. I recommend booking a table as it gets very busy. Two things to point out, there can be a delay on veggies. However, they are worth waiting for. Second is be patient, as the bar and carvery area can get busy. I recommend the roast Potatoes, lovely crispy outer and fluffy inside. My partner choose the beef, I took the pork. Both meats cooked to perfection. We were greeted by one of the pubs' two black labradors. Very good food, good service and busy. Traffic can be problematic

Went for Sunday lunch as a family, followed by a walk down to the beach. The parking situation makes sense, I get it that they don’t want non-patrons using the pub car park, but why we had to move our car and pay to park after we’d spent over £100 collectively in the pub on food and drinks seemed unnecessary. We were seated and left, we had to ask after 15 minutes does someone come and take our order, or do we order at the bar. Told to order at the bar which seemed strange for a pub restaurant, but anyway. We had 4 carvery’s which were average. Roast potatoes were actually deep fried and not roasted, the other veggies were nice and fresh. My husband had the Yorkshire pudding wrap which was served in a compostable card tray. We found that very strange considering we were sat indoors. I could understand it if we were sat outside. It came with a single iceberg lettuce leaf on the side, with parsley inside which was even stranger, especially when there was a sign that said to let the staff know if you don’t want salad so they have less food waste. Iceberg lettuce and parsley just doesn’t belong with a roast dinner. His side of veggies was swimming in a pool of water too. Kids meals came out with beans instead of peas, but once sorted they went down a treat. We came to this pub as it was advertised online as having a rustic play area for kids, but the grassed garden was closed. No idea why, but that was a disappointment as we’d have rather sat over on the grass. All in, it could be a real gem with some small tweaks, but is feeling a tad run-down and chaotic.

Not the welcome we had hoped for. On arrival pub car park said to pay at car park machine, not clear that was located in the public car park. Went into enquire about parking and advised to move the car as the pub landlady doesn’t like walkers parking in the car park, despite our intention to return for food. It wasn’t busy, I might add. Was hoping to complete our romantic walk with a certain question in a cosy pub. Felt uncomfortable so took our business elsewhere.

Love this place. First time we have stopped overnight and can’t fault it. Great food, beer and lovely staff who make you really welcome. Lots of locals who call in for a pint and a chat shows you just how good it is. We will definitely be coming back to stay over and hopefully enjoy the beautiful walks once it’s dried out a bit.

The drinks was reasonably priced although served in dirty glasses. The check in was easy and I was taken up to my room. The pub and hotel could do with a very good clean and a bit of an update in the rooms. Dust, cobwebs and marks all around the room and bathroom. The bed was ok, the room had everything that was needed. The shower was unusable. It was a trickle that went from freezing cold to scolding hot. I gave up in the end. Didn’t have much interaction with the staff but some of them didn’t seem too welcoming. The morning breakfast was edible but not great. Whilst sat in the eating area there was flies all over the table and landing on the food. I was booked in for two nights but left a day early as was very disappointed. Won’t be returning☹️

Food was amazing and not too expensive either. Beautiful pub and really friendly staff and what a location. For me with campervans free parking if you buy a meal and it's 10 mins away from hayburn wyke water fall 100% worth a visit. Beer gardens also and dog friendly

Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival. Drinks were lovely we had rhubarb gin and ginger ale. Breakfast was really nice full English. Taxi drive to openair theatre in Scarborough cost us around £20 each way!

Went in for lunch with our Westie puppy. Made incredibly welcome even when puppy had a barking fit. Thoroughly enjoyed my mussels and hubby had lovely steak pie, chips and peas. Definitely recommend. Great value.
