Went for Sunday lunch as a family, followed by a walk down to the beach. The parking situation makes sense, I get it that they don’t want non-patrons using the pub car park, but why we had to move our car and pay to park after we’d spent over £100 collectively in the pub on food and drinks seemed unnecessary. We were seated and left, we had to ask after 15 minutes does someone come and take our order, or do we order at the bar. Told to order at the bar which seemed strange for a pub restaurant, but anyway. We had 4 carvery’s which were average. Roast potatoes were actually deep fried and not roasted, the other veggies were nice and fresh. My husband had the Yorkshire pudding wrap which was served in a compostable card tray. We found that very strange considering we were sat indoors. I could understand it if we were sat outside. It came with a single iceberg lettuce leaf on the side, with parsley inside which was even stranger, especially when there was a sign that said to let the staff know if you don’t want salad so they have less food waste. Iceberg lettuce and parsley just doesn’t belong with a roast dinner. His side of veggies was swimming in a pool of water too. Kids meals came out with beans instead of peas, but once sorted they went down a treat. We came to this pub as it was advertised online as having a rustic play area for kids, but the grassed garden was closed. No idea why, but that was a disappointment as we’d have rather sat over on the grass. All in, it could be a real gem with some small tweaks, but is feeling a tad run-down and chaotic.
