Billie’s hostel was amazing. She accommodates our needs. We stayed at Tom’s room. Two twins. The room was clean and comfortable. She waited for us till 930pm but also had a note in front for check in info. The common kitchen had a lot of items to share for everyone to use. Coffee, tea and hot coco. Full stove toaster if you want to cook. Towels are provided and very clean bathroom. The rooms in the main house is just too dark and our tiny window opens to a fence. Wish there’s a sealing light. But over all stay was great. Billie is like the grandma to every guess. Definitely would recommend her place.

Billie’s is a wonderful place to stay and enjoy Fairbanks. The hostel is clean, inviting and a great central point to do some hiking & exploring. Billie is a wonderful hostess, I feel like I’ve known her my whole life. There is the community kitchen to make a meal and meet new friends. Bikes to borrow and ride around the neighborhood. A comfortable swing to enjoy the evening in the backyard. Great place!

I’ve spent the better part of two weeks visiting Fairbanks. I was reluctant at first to share my space with others but this place was a great place to learn a new skill set. Space sharing with ABSOLUTE strangers. Well it wasn’t bad at all. Most of the new faces that changed almost daily, all seemed to be having a good time, separately but together. Sometimes people shared and talked but no one was overbearing and well, a turn off. As a new person to hostels I would have to say I might try it again. Maybe not in a big city, as I am a native new yorker but towns like this you don’t need to be in the over priced hotels. Good luck fellow travels.

Billie’s house is very warm and cozy, with every corner filled with a homely atmosphere. There is a bus stop nearby, with both the red and blue lines providing access to places like the University of Alaska, Fred Meyer supermarket, and downtown. However, the buses do not run on weekends, so for guests without a car, it is more convenient to join tours that include shuttle services. Billie and her son, Art, are both very friendly and always willing to help guests. They also provide hot coffee in the morning. It’s a great experience to see travelers from different countries gathering in the living room downstairs, sharing and helping each other.

Billie makes a pot of coffee every morning for guests. Little Owl Café, a very short walk away, offers breakfast and lunch options. The common area is very cute and cozy. I stayed in the private twin room, which has its own lock.

Billie’s lived up to our expectations and more! My teenage daughter and I spent one night and loved it. Billie is kind and inviting. The hostel/house feels cozy and filled with history and memories. I was hoping to see the Aurora and managed to see a ribbon of dancing green lights right outside the hostel. There’s a wonderful cafe less than five minutes away. :)
