a&o Köln Neumarkt

Excellent location and good service it’s near to neumarket and train station.

This is by far the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in in years. Despite paying for the room in advance, I had to pay the city tax at the hotel. They only accept visa or master card for this, so my Union Pay didn’t work and they won’t accept cash. So I had to wait for a passerby to kindly pay the €1.40 tax for me with card. When I did eventually manage to check in, there was no charging place near my bed, so I had to charge it at the other end of the shared room. Then, I noticed that the bed was covered in multiple bed bugs! I took a video and showed it to the receptionist who changed my room. He did not offer a later checkout, or to allow me to use the laundry facilities to clean my clothes that the bed bugs crawled on. There wasn’t even an apology on behalf of the hostel. Do not stay here.

lovely lobby with charging amenities and places to rest and study, the staff was also very nice helped fix a coffee machine when it was broken and refunded my coffee. also very near to metro station (see pics) definitely recommended for solo travelers.

Price was kind of expensive for what you get but was one of the cheaper options in the city. Stayed in a shared room with 4 beds, having an ensuite bathroom to share. Location is convenient, reachable by tram and reception was lovely.

What I like most is the guest kitchen, sufficiently equipped. Can't beat making a cup of coffee in the morning and making your own simple breakfast or even dinner. A few supermarkets are nearby. Friendly staff. Location is perfect because there are many tram lines and U-bahn ahn line. Just the U-bahn from the Hauptbanhof. There are also many restaurants in the vicinity which catered to all taste. The place is popular with school groups and so can be noisy to some.

The incheck part is one of the things i disliked. I already filled everything in when booking. When i arrived i had to fill everything in again with a QR code. Self check in was not available as i didnt receive a qr code in the mail. Later that night i placed an order for 3 coffees and 1 tea which would be ready in 3 to 5 minutes. After not having received anything after 15 minutes i went to check and the guy forgot to vheck the tablet were the orders come in. It was good overall but i dont think ill go here again.

The location for me is perfect! It’s a nice place for many restaurants, bar and fun to do! Night shift staff Rumeysa was incredible! She is very helpful for solving problems! Bed room is clean and comfortable! Absolutely best hostels in Koln!
