Buchholz Downtown Hotel

Good staff, good breakfast, good location, had a friend so didn’t sleep actually there but beds seems ok, room was a bit cold in November during the day though

Parking wasn’t as easy as I had thought it would be. We were able to park on curb for free Sunday but were told we might get a ticket on Monday. We didn’t.

The Staff continues the great hospitality that is expected.

Good staff kind people good breakfast only no refrigerator and showers door can’t close

Great location for Christmas market visit Very convenient location, one block from the river, a 10-13 minute walk to the train station, the cathedral and art museum. There were 4-5 Christmas markets within walking distance of the hotel. The breakfast was served in a beautifully decorated breakfast room. It was a typical German breakfast, a substantial continental breakfast. The bathroom was very clean and had a large and excellent shower with plenty of hard water. The bed was comfortable although might be hard for some. There is free wifi but it wasn’t always a good signal. It is a small hotel and, although there is an elevator, most of the rooms require going up or down about 10 steps. Room 20 and 16 (I believe) are on the same floor as the elevator.

I stayed at Bucholz Downtown Hotel during my recent visit to Cologne for the Christmas Markets. The hotel is very conveniently located near the HBF and near the walking path along the river. The hotel breakfast was very nice...not extensive but a nice way to start you day and served by a friendly staff. The hotel is older and a bit dated but clean with good mechanicals. I am a solo female traveler...the street was a bit dark for me at night when walking alone. Also, the hotel desk is not staffed overnight. I would recommend this hotel but I do not think it is appropriate for older, solo female travelers. Enjoy and safe travels!

A small boutique hotel about 6mins walk from main station on quiet side of town. There are a few steps from street to reception entry. There is a tiny lift that can fit two person or one person with a suitcase. We stayed in a room on third floor so was happy there is a lift there. The WiFi wasn’t working in the room on the days we were there, which was very inconvenient. There is no kettle and no hair dryer in room. But was happy with bottle of free water provided in room. Overall, satisfied stay.

The hotel was well located near the Rhein and a short walk to railway station . We spent four nights. Our room was spacious, with a desk , two sitting chairs and had a separate sitting area . The bathroom was a generous size with quality fittings. The breakfast was excellent. We had a selection of muesli, fruit, boiled eggs and bread, juice and in addition we were given a plate of cold meats and cheese to our table. The security was good - and had a separate key to the front door. There is a small bar but we did not use it. There were several restaurants very close by that were convenient for an easy dinner.
