We really liked this hotel for the location and the history. The staff was amazing and we didn’t feel like we were in the city.

A beautiful building in a very pleasant area of Colombo; the architecture and interior design of the hotel are a joy to behold and the vast majority of staff are polite and courteous. Plenty of amenities nearby to suit all tastes and interests. The breakfasts were great both mornings (both the Sri Lankan breakfast and the Western style), and they really lived up to the high expectations we’d had from the Instagram marketing we’d seen. We were upgraded to the North West Suite, which was a larger room, for which we were greatly appreciative; a couple of issues with working plugs and appliances (coffee machine and hair dryer) were reported and rectified, although the wiring/plugs more broadly were temperamental and poorly placed (as expected, possibly, with the charm of an older hotel). However, the bed was comfortable, the hotel was quiet, and the bathroom was well appointed. Our only qualm was with the overzealous Head of Housekeeping, who seemed to not grasp the subtlety required for such a role, or the privacy with which guests might like to enjoy the beautiful hotel. It appeared that he lingered all too often in search of a tip, and didn’t quite appreciate the boundaries one might desire when paying a reasonable fee for each night. My wife and I took to speedily locking the door and placing the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the handle to keep his incessant interrupting to a minimum. His deputy was, however, an asset to the hotel, who seemed to comprehend the subtle art of providing high quality service for a luxury stay in a lovely hotel. All-in-all, a great choice for a hotel in the heart of Colombo, and hopefully, during a busier season, the aforementioned Head of Housekeeping might spread his overbearing attention across the many rooms of the hotel.

Because of the work of architect Bawa, we chose this place as our first stop in Sri Lanka. It is a niche light luxury hotel with great rooms in the style of Bawa. It is said to be the former private residence of the Prime Minister, specializing in entertaining heads of state and the British royal family. The service is very good, and the breakfast and dinner are also delicious (the dinner is said to be very famous). It is a hotel worth recommending.

This was the last hotel I stayed in for 2 weeks in Sri Lanka and the only hotel I was extremely dissatisfied with. The first is to check in. Although the sri people's movements are slow, the hotel's checking is really fast. Usually, I take the passport for verification, and then I can go to the room to rest after signing, but this hotel asked me to sit outside. And there is nothing to do waiting outside, the hotel fee is very small, and it is clear at a glance. Then, the hotel staff turned me down when I was out for dinner, and poured out the Chinese medicine I had soaked before I left. Because it is an outbound trip, I dare not bring too much traditional Chinese medicine. I have been drinking sparingly during the trip. This time it is the last night of the trip. When he came back, he had poured it all out and collected all the glasses. What's even more ridiculous is the way they dealt with the problem. I went to the front desk to complain, and the glasses guy stood up and admitted that he had taken the room for me. When he heard that there was an accident, he just ran away without any apology at all. There were four or five staff members beside me, and they all looked at me with their hands in this way, and none of them came over to say sorry. I was wondering, this is not the tea bag from your hotel, but the leaves I brought with me. Since you don't understand why you insist on touching my stuff, and you're being smart, help me deal with it! Moreover, the so-called most luxurious hotel in the country handles problems like this! ? And after traveling in Sri Lanka for two weeks, I don’t need to worry about their air-conditioning being too cold and bring a coat. There are very limited natural resources everywhere, but this one makes me shiver every time I enter the door. The coat was found. Is this the configuration of a luxury hotel? If so, please take a look at these basic details and how their hotel does it. Picture 1, the concave shape of the hotel puts the candle holder in the room, but it is broken, and the damaged side is still facing outward In picture 2, the hotel only provides one kind of super thick pillow to the guests, which is so thick that even the pillowcase can't fit. Double mattresses cannot avoid mutual interference when turning over. Picture 3, we can only ask the front desk in the middle of the night to ask for a small pillow for the baby, which is about the same thickness as adults. Turns out they found a dirty pillowcase that didn't fit Picture 4, the sheets of the extra bed, we looked carefully after dawn the next day, there were many stains on it (the blood was shot to death a mosquito) Picture 5, please see how the mosquito net on the big bed is installed. PS, the mosquito net on the other side is mopping the floor. In addition, there are still many unsatisfactory details, such as the lack of a driver's cab, which made our driver look for a place to live at night, so that he could not take us out for a stroll. The depth of the swimming pool is not listed. It is estimated that the two ends are at least one meter, and the middle is even deeper. It is in a secluded backyard, and no one walks by at all. It is under renovation next to it, and the smell is very strong. Even our room has a strong smell as long as we walk in the direction other than the lobby, so we let the baby swim for five minutes and quickly got up and cleaned up. The surroundings are not great, you can't walk to any clean and interesting places, and it's not even very safe to walk (narrow roads). Waiting for breakfast in a luxurious restaurant is too troublesome. Because we had to catch a plane at noon the next day, we specially took care of the meal at 8 o'clock in the morning the night before, but because we didn't sleep well at night, we arrived at the table at 8:10, thinking we had something to eat, but we actually ordered food ( Then you told us last night that you want to order food, let us order it in advance?!) No accident, when the driver came to pick it up at 8:30, our meals were not ready yet, but fortunately we brought fresh food with us Bags, packed to eat on the car. Looking back at the hotels I have stayed in before, I have never been disappointed in hardware and software. This home is truly one of a kind. The night before, I was even more impressed by the castle hotel where I stayed in Galle. The lobby was full of mosquitoes, but there were no mosquitoes in the room. There are only four staff in total looking after all the guests, all organized and responsive. This Paradise Hotel is really simple. There are about a dozen staff members standing in the hall, and they don’t know what to do when they walk around. Finally, a reminder that the restaurant does not have the legendary 30% service charge, but the price is on the high side. I don’t know the taste, because we found a super delicious Vietnamese restaurant next to it, with fried green leafy vegetables and bean sprouts. The beef is also very crispy

A luxurious hotel with a special sense of history

British style, meticulous service, high-end hotel, well deserved

The Paradise Road Tintagel is a beautiful hotel with lots of history. The rooms are a good size and very comfortable. The four poster bed has a mosquito net and although the mattress is softer than I normally like, I managed a great sleep. The bathroom is well appointed with a rainforest shower head and separate bath. It did take a little bit of fiddling to get the water temperature right and it could have had a little more pressure though. The restaurant was wonderful. We ate in the small, cosy dining room which had a nice ambience. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared. So why the “Average” rating? When we went to check out, the receptionist asked if we had the milk from the fridge. This is the small milk that is normally supplied for coffee and tea. It turns out that there is an additional charge to have the milk so you can have milk in the coffee. When we questioned this, the receptionist said “It’s on the price list”. I might be nitpicking but we have never stayed in a hotel of this quality and price that charges for a small milk for tea. We found this quite incredulous and disappointing that they charge for this and did spoil the stay a little bit.

I planned my trip to Sri Lanka 3 years ago and fell in love with this property for my Colombo section of the trip as soon as I saw it. I’ve had it booked for a long time, but recently the negative reviews started to make me nervous, people can be really harsh about the hotel and I worried it had lost its shine. Trust me, it hasn’t. I think some are forgetting this is a period property and a lot of the original features are still in place, so comments about it seeming “tired”, I would counter with saying it has wonderful character. It’s absolutely beautiful and even prettier in person. The staff are wonderful and nothing is ever too much trouble. The bed is huge and comfortable and the food is excellent. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Colombo, despite there being lots of new places being built. Nothing will ever match the charm, elegance and character of Tintagel.

Having arrived from London, we were welcomed with usual soft drinks and friendly staff who settled us in. Accommodation was first rate and bar and restaurant offered wide range and excellent quality. We had a guide so seeing the City was easy but hotel quite a way out so walking not really an option. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel and couldn’t fault the service.

Wonderfully atmospheric building, and excellent food and service. Breakfast in the courtyard was delicious and dinner on the verandah was wonderful. Cocktail bar was gorgeous and had the best Cosmopolitan of the trip there! Really attentive housekeeping staff and front of desk for check out in particular.

Excellent lovely colonial hotel spacious rooms and staff where amazing. Food was excellent they left little trests at night chocolate coated strawberries or biscuits and there was lots of things to do close by we had a wonderful 3 nights and will come back again

We stayed one night at The Tintagel, Paradise Road and loved its historic charm. The building, with its original furniture, has character and a sense of history. While some may perceive it as old or worn, for us, this only added to its unique appeal. The cleanliness was good and we had a fantastic breakfast to start our day. Despite our short stay, the attentive staff made a lasting impression with their warm and professional service.
