Where to begin? The visit at The Buck's Head, managed by the lovely Liam, was one of those formative experiences that sets a new standard for any future trip. The food was very good, the rooms were neat and thematic, but the service! The service was phenomenal. It has been one of the primary talking points for all of our family when we retell the story of our adventure to England (coming from Sweden). On our trip we went along the South Downs Way and stayed in different places throughout the rough week we were there. The Jolly Drover in Petersfield was very good as well, but it is the memories from The Buck's Head we will cherish most dearly. Thank you so much!

We stayed here one night whilst doing the South Downs Way. The room was great with a lovely big bath which was perfect after a long walk. We had a drink my the cozy fire. Had the most incredible sourdough pizza for dinner. All the staff were super friendly. Would definitely return

The location for the pub is really beautiful; right next to the river neon and the church. We went on a Friday lunchtime and it was fairly quiet. We sat in the garden next to the river and it was so lovely. We ordered pizza and fish and chips. Both were delicious. The pizza was extra tasty! Especially the tomatoes they use on the pizza and how they cook them in a pizza oven. This place will definitely become a regular for us.

Stopped here for 1 night when we were walking the South Downs Way. We had a lovely room with a king size double bed , which was very comfortable after a long day walking. Dinner in the restaurant was good , we had sourdough pizzas cooked in the pubs pizza oven , that were excellent. Breakfast was fine , we had a cooked option , but could have done with some cereal, fruit or fruit juice ( this is only a minor point ! )The guy serving us breakfast willingly filled our flasks with fresh coffee , which was excellent when we stopped to drink it several hours later. We only stayed for one night as were continuing the walk the next day , but a very nice place to stay

On 4.4.24 I rang The Bucks Head ( I have a record of the call log still on my phone. I booked a table for 4 for Frid 19.4.24 at 19.30. I booked early as it was a celebration. We arrived at 19.25pm on the night to be told there was no record of our booking and it was suggested that we had rung their sister pub The Shoe Inn. I got out my phone and showed the staff the call log, date, time and direct No for The Bucks Head, they conceded it was correct. I even showed them the text I sent the other couple 2 mins after I had made the call, advising it was all booked. We asked if they could squeeze us in or re-arrange anything, we were just told there was nothing they could do, no offer of a drink while we re-grouped and rang other places or any type of solution or resolution. We sat in our car in the car park and rang a few places but as it was 1930 on a busy Friday night everywhere was booked. Absolutely disgusted with their staff who assured me it was booked then failed to log it on their system. Poor customer services on the night too, by the staff who didn't even try and resolve it or find a solution.

Called in at Sunday lunchtime just for a quick drink, never having been here before, managed to get a seat in the covered seating area outside. Immediately noticed a wood fired pizza oven which smelt amazing, couldn’t resist ordering pizza’s which were some of the best pizza’s we had ever eaten, service was also excellent, will definitely be back.

Looking for spot of lunch walking a leg of South Downs Way, The Shoe at Exton was the plan but the welcome was chilly so we tried this place instead, without much expectation. We found a very attractive village pub with friendly helpful staff and a focus on fresh pizzas. They have pizzaiolos working on view by a roaring pizza oven and the pizzas look great, but we went for a roast (hearty portions of roasts with plenty of delicious veg and big yorkshires) followed by crumble (again a generous portion, rhubarb & apple, very nice) Only losing a star because my husband’s beef was rather tough. Otherwise great.

We visited the Bucks Head for the first time yesterday & after seeing the reviews, we were not disappointed. Lovely views of the stream, St Andrews Church and neighbouring fields made sitting in the sunshine even more pleasurable. A fairly minimal menu, however, we opted a Pizza and the Haddock and King Prawn Fishcakes, both freshly cooked, really tasty and reasonably priced. The Fishcake could have done with a bit more seasoning, but that's personal taste and a minor criticism! Friendly, attentive staff and good decor made for a wonderful experience and we will be sure to return!

We had a clean and comfortable twin room. Liam and his team were friendly and helpful. Excellent pizza and pint. Very nice setting. Reasonably priced. Just the job for a night's stop over on South Downs way and a good place to stay for anything really.
