Tropicasa Coron Resort and Hotel

I stayed for two nights at around 3,190 PHP total. This place is acceptable if you simply need a basic place to sleep while spending most of your time out exploring Coron. However, despite appearances, customer service was disappointing throughout my stay. Before arriving, I emailed the property directly using the contact email provided by Trip.com (t***********************), but never received any acknowledgement or response. I also sent a separate message through the Trip.com chat system and again received no reply. During my stay, staff often seemed polite on the surface, but communication and initiative were lacking. For example, guests cannot independently refill drinking water, so I requested two bottles from reception to save repeated trips. The receptionist agreed, but initially returned with only one. After asking again for a second bottle, another staff member later approached my room asking whether I wanted my water “changed,” suggesting the request had not been communicated clearly between staff despite it being very simple. The same pattern continued in the restaurant on the 4th floor. Staff were frequently gathered around waiting, but when I asked for two menu items, I was told both were unavailable without any alternatives being suggested. I then had to ask which dishes were actually available to order. The biggest issue, however, was the room itself. At night, winged insects repeatedly emerged from the ceiling recesses and gathered around the TV lights. Both nights I had to deal with numerous bugs inside the room. Honestly, I did not even bother reporting it to staff after the earlier issues with basic communication over something as simple as bottled water, as I had little confidence the issue would be handled effectively. The pool area was also disappointing. During my stay, I never once saw the pool being cleaned, and the loungers and bedding throughout the property appeared heavily stained and poorly maintained. I actually was not even planning to leave a review, so I had barely taken any photos, but seeing a plastic bag and untouched dead bugs sitting in the pool for extended periods finally pushed me to write one. I booked this hotel hoping for a relaxing stay before flying out from USU, but unfortunately it did not feel like the quiet oasis it advertises itself to be. Everyone’s experience is personal, but based on mine, I would not choose to stay here again or recommend it to others visiting Coron.

I enjoyed the location, would I stay there again NO, there is no hanging rail, no coat hangers, no shelves. The room consists of 1 bed, a luggage rack big enough for hand luggage only, a small table with a kettle, cup and saucer and 1 tea bag! You get given 1 bath towel. The shower is lovely and warm, however you end up with a swimming pool, as the water doesn't drain properly, as the floor doesn't have a slope on it! There's bug's in the bedroom and I even had ants on the bed. Reported to reception, but nothing is done.

We traveled as a family of four and booked two rooms—one twin-sharing and one queen double. Both rooms were in good condition, clean, and comfortable. The staff were consistently friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. Daily housekeeping is available upon request, which was convenient. Before our trip, I was a bit hesitant after reading some negative reviews mentioning repetitive breakfast options and the absence of hairdryers. However, it seems the hotel has addressed these concerns. Each room now comes with a brand-new hairdryer (ours was still in the box), and we were pleasantly surprised that the breakfast offerings were varied and different each day. The hotel’s location in Coron town is another big plus, making it easy to walk to nearby restaurants. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again if we return to Coron.

The hotel is acceptable. It is close to where the excursions start. They gave us a room on the first floor, which is underground, but there was only one wall visible from the window and it was super humid. They were kind enough to change it for us, for which we are grateful. On the third floor it was better, despite the noise from the main street. But this is normal for city hotels in the Philippines. The internet was very bad, only in some places. The bottled water smelled of chlorine as if it was from the tap. The breakfast was good.
