I travelled to SBH Costa Calma Beach Resort with my 6 year old to celebrate his birthday. We arrived late in the evening and missed dinner, but the hotel had a room with sandwiches and small snacks for us to eat. The choice was limited but at least had something to eat. Check in was easy and we was allocated room 533, which had a great sea view. The room was basic but clean. There was no safety deposit box. I went back to reception the following day as we paid for it and they agreed to get one sorted within two days. This wasn’t fitted the entire holiday, even after I chased this as I wanted it for my son’s Nintendo switch and our passports. This was the only disappointment we experienced. We upgraded and paid the 5eur per day to get a wrist band that allowed us to use all the other SBH hotels nearby. We only used the next one up along the beach, which was nice. SBH Faro Beach. The pool was smaller but the service appeared better. Drinks was bought round and offered by the waitress, whereas at Costa Calma they didn’t do this. The swimming pools at Costa Calma Beach were lovely. There’s three bigger pools and two baby pools. There are plenty of sun beds so no need for sun bed wars. There was one incident with one of the pools (the one furthest away), where a child cut his foot open quite badly on the bottom of the pool. There’s a number of missing floor tiles that may have caused it. The hotel allow glasses around the pool as-well, so there may have been broken glass in the pool (it wasn’t clear the cause). But the child needed six stitches and was in a wheelchair for the rest of his holiday. The hotel grounds are well maintained generally. There are a number of wall tiles missing that would be simple for the hotel to repair and make it look much nicer. But this did not affect the incredible views and pool areas which were nice to sit around. There’s a pool bar and main hotel bar. During the evenings there’s a mini disco and entertainment of some sort. We itched an acrobatic show, animation dance show, played bingo and watched a live singer. It was great for families to enjoy. Most of the staff were friendly, however a few wasn’t so engaging which is a shame. The animation team was really good. They really encouraged everyone to participate. Pablo and Alvaro were amazing with the little ones. They seemed more active when running the kids club. The girls liked to get the children colouring which wasn’t for my little one. But they did let him play with other toys and make loom bands. He loved going to the kids club by the end of our week. Beachy the mascot was great fun for the kids. They all loved seeing him and taking photos along with accepting hugs and high five’s. The main reception area is lovely and modern. There’s plenty of space to sit and relax and cool off. The hotel offers a good selection of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. There do the most amazing cakes and my son was a massive fan of the chocolate fountain. The waiters/waitres
