After reading reviews, thought this would be ideal for 1 yr old’s first camping trip. I booked over the phone and the lady who dealt with the booking was professional and accommodating - the exact opposite of the experience to follow. - Had to wait over ten minutes in sweltering heat in the car before getting through barrier on arrival as nobody was manning reception during allocated check-in time. - check in wad totally pointless, just got handed a map. Did not ask for any details. - We could’ve just been wildly unlucky but the camping field had several very, very large groups who were each seemingly attempting to out-do each other as to who could be the most inconsiderate campers. This involved: one man allowing his toddler to steer his 4x4 at considerable speed around the campsite. a group of motocross bikers frequently revving and driving very loudly on and off the site somebody on an electric bike driving across and around the field at top speed with an infant on the handlebars there must’ve once been many “no campfires” signs around the field, as I kept coming across remnants of them. They had all been smashed and people were just doing whatever they pleased as regards lighting fires. one couple who were allowing their toddler to control the volume and radio station selection of their car radio with all the doors open (maximum volume, endless switching). one group had cars of teenagers endlessly arriving and leaving, driving over the field and blasting out music each time. music being played loudly from car stereos until well after 11pm. teenagers on the play area, quite literally screaming and shouting until well past midnight. cars arriving on the field into early hours car alarms being set off. toilet definitely not clean, one cubicle locked/out of use and clearly flooded, another with actual faeces on the stall wall and floor. dogs barking and people shouting back at these dogs - this went on routinely between 1 and 3am. the campsite is immediately flanked by, on one side, a farm with noisy animals and, on the other, a huge construction site where land is being levelled by heavy machinery which started promptly at 8pm. All in all a horrendous night at a nightmare site. I did not feel safe in the tent, as a very experienced camper, due to the dangerous antics of other campers and their vehicles. As I said, we could’ve just been unlucky and happened to book on the same Sunday night as an Inconsiderate’s Convention, but the sheer size and number of the groups suggested otherwise. Would not visit again, would definitely not recommend and would not trust “Harrison’s Holidays” with any of my family’s previous vacation time as they quite clearly do not care about campers or, as the fellow on reception calls them, “tenters”.
