"We stayed here as part of our G Adventures tour. The hotel is in a good location, it's central to most of the city and in walking distance for the majority of it. The rooms are fairly clean and a good size. Staff are very friendly, welcoming and will go out of their way to help you with anything. Breakfast was good and gave you the opportunity to sample Humitas, a typical Ecuadorian breakfast dish."

"Overall enjoyable stay. Close to the airport and downtown, staff friendly, rooms clean, included breakfast enjoyable. The only issue is that it can be quite loud - the windows/walls don't have much in the way of insulation, so bring ear plugs. I stayed at Apartamentos Otorongo at the end of my trip and that was a much better experience. While they weren't as close as Casa San Rafael, they were SOOOO quite and about the same price point."

"We visited Cuenca, Ecuador in October 2021. Gran Colombia was our home away from home for two weeks. From the moment we entered this beautiful historic landmark, we were treated like family. Every member of the staff was professional and very accommodating. The penthouse suite was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed for our extended stay. The room included a private balcony with 360 degree views of Cuenca, separate bedroom/bathroom, comfortable bed, ample closet space, safe in closet, living room, kitchen (gas stove top, dishes, utensils, pots/pans, blender, coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave) with small dining table. We also had access to the washer & dryer in common area with no additional charge. Everyone was so helpful and provided information about the city and provided recommendations for local experts (i.e. Visa, legal, transportation, tour guides, realtors, etc.). We are looking forward to returning again in the near future."

"We are in the historic centre of Cuenca, very moving, lively and, I would say, almost western, and for the next two nights we will rest in a fantastic colonial house, restored, rising back to the last century. I would never have imagined waking up the morning of ferragosto in a hotel room with the vintage style, the end of the eighth century, Spanish colonial, and heard the sparkling of the trams on the rails. The rooms offer a patio and a living room, with a sofa and a desk for the comfort of guests."
