Bushmans Rock ★★★★
"Enjoy our stay very much, good service, restaurant food need some attention. T-Bone was touch at dinner time. for the rest very good experience."
Kievits Kroon Gauteng Wine Estate ★★★★
"We decided on Kievets Kroon for a mid-week couples break. Neither of us had been before but it fitted our requirement of being close to Jhb. All the buildings are Cape Dutch style, painted white, with thatch roofs providing an imposing backdrop to beautifully manicured gardens notwithstanding the middle of winter weather. We were welcomed warmly from the entrance gate to our room. The rooms are in various clusters around the property and provide a variety of options to suit different requirements. We had upgraded to an executive room situated in the new block which was close to all amenities. The room was what one would expect from a 4* hotel - it was comfortable and reasonably spacious but no WOW factor. The buffet breakfast with hot egg counter was well presented and there was no shortage of food. A variety of specialty coffees was also available. We only ate dinner at the Kingsley restaurant which was very pleasant. We had the signature his / her treatment in a well-appointed Spa. The spa facilities are impressive but somewhat spoilt by a crowd of ladies that dominated the hot tub to the exclusion of anyone else. The actual treatment we would rate as average. We had a picnic lunch on the one day which was very well presented under the shade of a beautiful tree. On top of a hearty breakfast, the picnic was too much, and we could have easily gotten by on one basket for both of us. There is no gym or decent walking trail on the property, so we took a morning off to go to Wolwespruit - about 25 minutes away - which offers running / walking trails in a clean, safe environment. We had one gripe which was that housekeeping did not remove the room service tray which was outside our room for +24 hours and only removed once we had pointed this out to reception. The winter chills prevented the external pol from being used and thus it was too cold to laze round the pool. I would think that the main revenue stream of Kievets Kroon is its conferencing capacity which is substantial. All in all, a pleasant enough stay but if we went again, we would stick to summer."
LookOut Safari Lodge ★★★
"The place was a good experience for bush escape vacation, the service was excellent and the game drive was nice, the place was value for money "
The Blades ★★★★
"We had been to the blades for the day after Valentine's Day in 2025 and enjoyed our stay so much that we booked again for 2026. I booked on bookings.com in February 2025, but was disappointed with the room we received, which did not even overlook the dam. In 2026, we stayed on Valentine's Day, and the hotel hosted a Valentine's dinner, which I had to pay an additional R50.00 as my booking was for half board. The Menu was slightly dissapointing but nevertheless we enjoyed everything we ordered and loved the atmosphere that was created with a secluded table, a complimentary drink on arrival, a rose and a chocolate. There was also live music, which was awesome, and we had a very romantic dinner. The staff at the Hotel were friendly and accommodating, we just struggled to get hold of them for room service as it seems the front desk attends to these requests, and when they are busy, the phone goes unanswered. In our room, there was a door which has a interleading passage to the unit next door. This door had some vinyl on it to create priviacy but it acted like a light box from outside, which meant we could not have a dark room unless it was dark outside. I think if they put a blind or something on this door, it would be better. Sadl,y also when we arrived, the bathroom smelled like a blocked drain and a bit later on the entire room smelled like that. Luckily, though the smell dissapated but, we had to keep the bathroom door closed. Overall, we did have a great evening at the hotel and enjoyed the atmosphere and being away from the city. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast buffet the next morning was delicious."
Premier Hotel Roodevalley ★★★
"To some degree, some things were falsely advertised. Firstly, we booked a superior room, which was evidently more priced than a normal standard room, and upon check-in, we were told that a superior room is also a standard room, just from the upgraded rooms. The pictures of the room we had booked (where there is evidently a king bed and a sofa bed) were just for show. Who leaves their house to share a double bed at a hotel? Additionally, on the room description, it stated that there are electric blankets in Winter, and guess what? No electric blanket in sight,I brought this up on their WhatsApp chat on the night of check-in, only for us to receive an extra blanket the following day. No apology, nothing. Moving on to the buffet, on one of the nights, they served Pap and no other alternative to Pap. Never mind that there is no room service, you literally have to walk in the cold to the restaurant, I do not leave my house to go and eat pap at a hotel, unless it is MY preference. The hotel has so much potential; however, it is currently being run to the ground, no wonder there are no more reviews of it on here. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement!"
Halali Wilderness Game Ranch ★★
"Beautiful location, wonderful room, excellent breakfast and dinner, Peter and all the staff are very kind and super helpful."
