This cosy pub had been dressed for Christmas and looked lovely when we arrived, we stayed in a room at the front on the road side which is noisy early morning. The room was cosy although tired, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. We ate in the restaurant in the evening my husband had the roast turkey dinner and it was not worth the £22 three sprouts cut in half and one pigs in blanket !! two slices of meat but he thinks one was pork the fact he couldn't tell doesn't bode well. The breakfast however was very good and plentiful. The lady at breakfast was very friendly.

Excellent dinner on a busy Friday evening. The chefs know what they are doing for sure. Quality meals - so you get what you pay for. The guinea fowl and crème brûlée were particularly good. Chatsworth Gold ale well kept too. If you’re lucky you can sit in the armchairs by the fire too! We Will certainly return.

Food offering is really good, well priced and good portions. Very much had a lovely lunchtime - lovely and quieter it being on a Saturday in November. Enjoyed so much that we will be back with our walking friends for our usual pre-Christmas get together.

This really is a review of two halves. First the good. The bar and waiting staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Particularly Karen. The food was excellent. However, we had booked the deluxe room for three nights and this was a huge disappointment. The room was really tired with dingy brown walls and carpet and old furniture and fittings. It certainly didn't deserve a description of 'deluxe'. It was at the back so quiet but I think the rooms at the front would be noisy as the Inn is on a busy main road.

Went here for food and a drink after a walk at Curbar Edge. The staff are lovely, the interior is cosy. The food came quick and it was hot. I would recommend the Korean BBQ Ciabatta. We didn’t stay but I can imagine the rooms offer the same comfort and vibe.

Beautiful setting inside and out with it being a traditional country pub with real fire internally and a raised beer garden on the back giving you beautiful views of the countryside. We ordered at the bar from a friendly gentleman, I had the cheese sandwich on lovely fresh bread at £9.50 and my wife had the pulled pork at £11.50 both very filling with this we had a couple of half pints of estrella at £2.95 each.

This is a nice old Inn in a great location in the Peak District. We stayed for 3 nights. It's about £140 per night B&B or £180 including dinner for two. Rooms are comfortable, with tea and coffee facilities and a decent shower. A small fridge would be a nice addition. Breakfast offers a good choice of cooked meals: the full Derbyshire and the Grilled Kippers were both terrific. Dinners on Thursday and Saturday were great (reviewed separately in the Trip Advisor restaurant section). There is a lovely beer garden at the back and a free pub car park across the road.

We've been here a few times and the food has always been good. They do the best Sunday lunch I've ever had in a pub. It was still good this time, but very expensive for the amount we were served. The chips were excellent, way above the average and my sandwich was good. The sandwich comes with 'a few' chips and it really was a few, only 3. My other half had the Ploughman's and it was very disappointing - he left hungry. Although the food was good, it was basically a Nouvelle Cuisine Ploughmans. There was a very small wedge of pie, although it was a very good pie, one slice of ham, one piece of ordinary cheddar and two smallish hunks of bread, plus a couple of pickles etc. We were glad we'd ordered a side of chips. But again, £5.50 for a small amount of chips. We paid over £40 for two small plates of food, a side of chips, a medium glass of wine and a coke. Too much.
