I came here for a friend's wedding in August 23 and couldn't get over how lovely a place it was, and the staff were so organised and welcoming. When we arrived at the bridal salon, we were greeted with an ice bucket of prosecco, martini and orange juice plus around 8 glasses which was a nice touch. There's also a mini fridge, kettle and a selection of teas and coffees, also 2 steamers which really came in handy. The only thing I will point out is that there's no shower, we almost didn't shower before arriving so figured I'd better point this out just incase. Shortly after arriving a member of staff came to see us, to make sure we had everything we needed and checked on us throughout the day, ensuring things were OK and we had a complimentary breakfast which was lovely. The room also had charging sockets for mobiles phones and plug sockets, so bringing things like straighteners or a hair dryer isn't a problem. The only other thing I will say is make sure before your ceremony everything is packed together back into your bags/cases, as we did find all of our stuff had been put into the grooms suite upon our return, if we'd had known we had to have our stuff out of there by a certain time we would have packed everything ready so we wasn't looking through our stuff half way through the day to make sure we had everything. The ceremony itself and the whole day infact went without a hitch, you could tell how professionally organised the staff were throughout the day, from setting everything up and the timings of everything too. For our stay we opted to stay in one of the cottages, the cottage we were given had stairs leading upto it, so I strongly suggest if you have mobility issues, let them know as I know some are on the ground floor (friends who were next door were on the ground floor). The cottage itself was pretty basic looking, but quite spacious. You could easily spend a few days there as it did come with near enough everything kitchen wise you would need (obviously you would need to bring your own food, but that's a given 😉). There's enough towels in the bedroom and bathroom for 2 people, but I'm sure if you ask they could provide more if needed and the bathroom as a bath with a built in shower, again this is cottage dependant as our friends said theirs only had a shower. Only downside I would say about the cottage, is that the quilts on the bed don't have covers on, I don't know if they were forgotten or of that's the way it was but for only one night it wasn't an issue, though did find it very cold in the middle of the night. At one point I did go upto the bridal suite in the actual hotel part, sadly both myself, the bride, groom and brides mother all agreed that it wasn't very nice at all, everything was black from the walls to the drawers with just a splash of gold on the walls, it looked almost gothic which wasn't really in keeping with the rest of the retreat a
