Menora Grand Da Nang

This hotel was a complete surprise. The place I originally wanted to stay was fully booked, so I reluctantly blind-booked this one for the first two nights of my trip. To my surprise, it turned out to be even better than the one I had in mind, and cheaper too! For just over 200 (RMB) including double breakfast, it's just across the road from the beach. The best part is the breakfast is actually pretty good, with a decent variety for this price point. The room was also very spacious. There's a pool on the top floor, though I didn't get a chance to swim. There isn't a convenience store directly downstairs, but there's one right next door, so it's a great location – quiet yet central. The affordable Chinese seafood restaurant that I gorged on for three days straight was also very close by. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I'm in Da Nang. Parking my scooter downstairs was also very convenient, no need to fight for a spot.

The room was pretty good, and there were plenty of dining options nearby. However, some of the hotel's communication methods felt a bit inflexible and less customer-friendly compared to what I'm used to back home. I had booked one room, but because it wasn't available, they upgraded me. The next day, I had booked a different room, and since I didn't want the hassle of switching rooms, I asked if the hotel could cancel my original booking so I could rebook the upgraded room I was already in, even at a higher price. I just didn't want the inconvenience of moving. But the hotel wouldn't extend my upgrade, nor would they cancel my order, even if I rebooked another room type with them. After more than an hour of fruitless negotiation, it really put a damper on my stay. I decided to just stay one more night and then switch hotels.
