Darwin Poinciana Inn
3.5/56 Reviews
We were cautious due to previous poor reviews but had little choice as everything else was booked out for our dates, however we were glad we stayed here. (BTW if its changed its name it hasnt translated to the signage yet - still has Poinciana in large letters on building). Great things about this hotel: 1. Location - the quieter end of Mitchell street, still near to centre but away from frenetic nightclub scene. Coles on Mitchell Street and Woollies on Smith Street both within 5 min walk. Esplanade, Waterfront, Deckchair Cinema, mall etc, all within walking distance. 2. Value - the building and rooms are dated but the sheets were clean, beds comfy and shower hot. Airconditioning and TV worked well. Also has swimming pool and BBQ. Really good value for city location. 3. Triple rooms - I was travelling with my two adult daughters. Good (and unusual) to get 3 proper beds in one room. 4. Friendly service - there were a couple of hitches such as insufficient towels and cups but these were rectified very quickly and cheerfully. Very helpful with any requests. (And love your beautiful dog at reception)

Great stay at Cullen Bay Resort. We were well looked after by the friendly staff.
Darwin Esplanade Central
3.8/510 Reviews
This was the cheapest accommodation we could find in Darwin for a CBD location for 8 days. What a bargain!! On the Esplanade with all the other top class hotels, close to Shenanigans pub, Coles, Bicentennial Park, Peel Street with all its restaurants, shops etc. And that’s not all!! The room was older but was beautifully maintained, spotlessly clean, had everything that opens & shuts- washing machine, drier, dishwasher, iron, hairdryer, iron but no board, really comfy lounge, all you need for any length of time in Darwin. The air conditioning was excellent - just on and off, no fiddling, no dials, worked perfectly! This is so so important in the extreme Darwin climate! Reception daytime staff were excellent and the security guards on duty after hours leave a bit to be desired. They do their best but are quite inept. On the side we were on, we overlooked the youth hostel and Shenanigans Pub which were noisy till the curfew 10.00 pm so we couldn’t use the veranda, however, we didn’t hear anything when the door was closed. If we visit Darwin again, this would be our first choice!
The Cavenagh

Absolutely awesome service by the staff at the Cav! Unfortunately I had to be hospitalised for a night the afternoon and had to extend our stay for another 3 nights. Joy Joy (the manager) was very compassionate and sympathetic and looked after us. The rooms were comfy and had great aircon and a full sized fridge instead of those tiny fridges. The pool is stunning and the atmosphere was incredible with live singers every night. Food was delicious. The 90 day grain fed, 40 day dry aged tri tip was heaven on a plate. Highly highly highly recommend. Will most definitely stay here next time we are in Darwin!
Luma Luma Holiday Apartments

Very good One of the best hotels to stay in Australia for half a month. Airport taxis are around AUD $ 26-28. A taxi for two persons is better than an airport bus for AUD15 per person. There are several large supermarket walking streets nearby, not far from walking distance. We got off the plane at 1am and arrived at the hotel. The service staff was waiting for us at the door. Full marks.

A great little gem in Darwin. Simple, but clean, very comfortable and a great pool. Great communication and very friendly and helpful staff. The kids were a bit scared of the squeaky bunk beds which need a tightening up but they slept fine eventually. Right in the heart of town and includes parking. Very handy. Will stay again.
