We had a wonderful stay at Tangfang Courtyard. The traditional courtyard style is charming and peaceful, offering a great spot to relax after a day of sightseeing. Located right in Datong Old City, the hotel makes it incredibly easy to walk to major attractions and local restaurants. Our room was clean, surprisingly quiet, and very comfortable. Additionally, the staff provided warm and attentive service throughout our trip. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Datong.

Staying at Tangfang Courtyard was a delightful surprise, fulfilling all expectations for a high-quality B&B. We arrived quite late, but the pick-up driver was friendly and professional. The B&B is a quiet oasis amidst the bustle; after walking through a lively area, just a few steps brought us into a tranquil and clean alley. Getting to a taxi stand was only a three-minute walk away. The room seamlessly blended elements of ancient folk-house design with an emphasis on comfort. All facilities were comprehensive, fully functional, clean, and easy to use. Little touches like tea sets, lounge chairs, fruit, snacks, complimentary sweet soup before bed, pretty umbrellas, and shoe covers for rainy days (see pictures for details) added to the travel pleasure. Every comfort was thoughtfully provided. The common area continuously screened introductions to the scenic spots around Datong. Breakfast offered a great variety and delicious taste; the chef's lamb offal noodle soup was even better than what you'd find in local restaurants. The owner and staff were incredibly responsive to every request, warm yet maintaining appropriate boundaries. The different types of pillows provided on the bed alone showed how dedicated this establishment is to running a quality B&B. Honestly, there's nothing to fault. In short, our Datong trip was made exceptionally enjoyable by the Tangfang experience.

The host and the team were genuinely welcoming and accommodating. They exerted every effort to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible. The property have undergone a complete refurbishment. Our accommodation is a family suite featuring a courtyard and a penthouse, providing a dedicated area for children. Breakfast is served homemade style, offering local noodles or dumplings, or Western options, all prepared by the owner or the team. Nevertheless, it is necessary to liaise with the team regarding your arrival or departure arrangements, as traffic restrictions occasionally prevent vehicle access directly to the hotel entrance during certain limited hours.

The environment here is great. It's located within the ancient city but away from the super crowded areas, so it's really quiet at night. The only downside is that cars aren't allowed in the ancient city, so dragging luggage can be a bit of a walk. The courtyard is perfect for a chat and a cup of tea; it's quite tranquil. The service was very good. You can tell they put a lot of thought into everything; it's all very refined. The afternoon tea was lovely, and both the dried apricots and mandarins were delicious. For breakfast, you can choose between lamb offal soup with rice noodles or刀削面 (daoxiao mian - knife-cut noodles). The facilities are quite comprehensive, with a coffee machine and a disposable bathtub liner. However, there's still room for improvement. The air conditioning in the room works, but it can make the air quite dry. The water heater is electric, and it's a bit tricky to get the hot and cold water balance just right. If two people shower consecutively, the next person has to wait quite a while. Overall, it's still a good place to stay. It's very convenient for exploring the ancient city, and it's not far to take a taxi to the grottoes.

Before my check-in, i received messages from the hotel to make sure I have a smooth journey to reach their place. And from the moment I stepped in, I felt the warm and they eagerness to help me should I have any issues or request. I even got a free upgrade to a better room, delicious breakfast was packed for me when I have to get up early for sightseeing purpose. Location wise, car can only stop at somewhere nearby, but is a short distance and an easy road to walk. Overall I think this is a perfect stay for me, the only regret, I wish I can stay longer instead of only 2 nights.

Extremely thoughtful service (ensures everyone has water, even preparing fully charged portable chargers just in case the occupants need it). Friendly service staff, great location, and well designed accommodation. Recommend!

The room was spacious, clean, and tidy. Its location inside Datong Ancient City made exploring incredibly convenient. The facilities were complete and cozy, exactly as pictured. The host was warm and attentive, always ready to help, and even gave us small fireworks, which the kids loved playing with in the courtyard – it felt just like home! Plus, there were fruits, drinks, and snacks available to enjoy freely. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit Datong. Highly recommended!

Datong Ancient City is home to this charming, traditionally-styled B&B. The decor is thoughtfully done, and the heating is incredibly good – I even slept with the window open on the second night! The breakfast, while small, is perfectly balanced with both meat and vegetables, and the pickled cucumbers are absolutely delicious and go great with rice.

We had a wonderful stay. The property is lovely, with a central location that is both convenient and incredibly quiet. The staff are warm, friendly, and always ready to help with anything you might need. The rooms are clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated. Breakfast is excellent and served in a beautiful, well-organized dining area. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area and would definitely stay here again.

The place is perfectly located in the old city center. The interior is beautiful and high standard. Breakfast is delicious with coffee and freshly cooked soup. They can speak English and translate and are very hospitable in general. Also very helpful with recommendations in the city.

Booked this for a friend, and she insisted I leave a great review! The owner was incredibly attentive to her needs. My friend wasn't feeling well, and the owner went out of their way to buy her necessities and even cooked her three meals a day. She really felt at home. So grateful!

The hotel was well located in Datong old town with an acceptable breakfast. However, there was a cockroach in my room and the bathroom light was broken meaning it was difficult to use at night.
