Hotels in Ancient City Tourist Cultural Area, Datong

A very pleasant stay at the Pipa Old Inn. A very historical building, though the place is equipped with all necessary modern amenities save for an elevator. Fortunately the staff very helpful assisted us with lugging up our heavy luggage to our room on the 3rd floor. Very beautifully decorated and strategically located in the heart of Datong Ancient City. Very pleasant and helpful staff who helped us plan and arrange our trips around Datong though sadly, they weren't very proficient in English (but that's common in China). Free breakfast was included in our stay and there was a decent spread though the menu didn't change much over our stay there save for one or two vegetable dishes being rotated. Overall definitely worth a return trip and stay in Datong Ancient City.

Hygiene: Before coming, I checked several hotels and decided on this one. It seems like this hotel is newly opened, and new hotels are especially clean. Facilities: The facilities are very complete, with a gym and laundry room, and the breakfast is also delicious. Service: The service is the best. They upgraded my room right after check-in and even gave me a complimentary breakfast. The breakfast was really good, especially the knife-cut noodles!

This is a five-star hotel with a luxurious, old-school decor. The hotel service is absolutely impeccable; every single staff member was incredibly friendly and had an excellent attitude, making us feel right at home. We even happened to be staying during a political conference. The location is fantastic, very close to the high-speed train station and only about a kilometer from the ancient city. A special shout-out to the auntie at the fifth-floor spa; as a 'southern kid' experiencing a full body scrub for the first time, she was so gentle and kind throughout the entire process. Huge thanks to everyone at the hotel for giving us such a wonderfully pleasant experience! Wishing you all the very best!

If I were to rate the room alone, this guesthouse exceeded my expectations. Even though I booked a special offer room in the basement, there were absolutely no issues with ventilation or natural light. On the contrary, on a warm winter day, bathed in the soft glow of the lights, it felt like my own cozy little haven. If I visit again, I'd still choose this place. (The lady at the front desk was beautiful and kind-hearted, always willing to help and answered every question with a smile, which truly warmed my heart.) Now for the downsides: breakfast was served about a 10-minute walk from the guesthouse, which isn't a huge deal. However, the breakfast service was a world apart from the guesthouse's excellent service. The staff didn't even lift their heads when we entered or left, completely engrossed in their TV show. And they didn't provide Wi-Fi, which I consider a very basic service, right? Also, could you please avoid serving rotten fruit to guests? The breakfast quality was more about presentation than substance; it looked good for photos, but the taste left much to be desired.

The staff upgraded us to a suite room upon check-in. Also provided daily fruit platter and 梨汤. Supper of 刀削面，egg and warm milk was great! Special commendation to 郭六女 for good service. Parking convenient.

After comparing several options, I chose this place, and it's truly fantastic! The room is small but has everything you need. The front desk staff were very enthusiastic and even helped me plan a sightseeing route for the surrounding area. The hotel is centrally located, just a ten-minute walk to the old town, offering much better value for money than other hotels in the same price range.

Fantastic lodging. Best value I have had in dozens of stays. Clean, classy and large room with huge window to the main streets. Nice little hip cafe in the same hallway on the same floor. Nice bathroom, great bed. The location is also fine, even though it is a kilometer or so to the city walls. The naming Old town guesthouse isn’t much correct, but it doesn’t matter for the overall impression of this hotel.

My stay at Yunzhong Chaoran Pavilion (Qiuguo Hotel) was extremely satisfying! 👍 This newly renovated hotel boasts impressive, grand solid wood furniture. It's spotlessly clean, and the staff are incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive. The hotel offers its own underground parking (just turn right after Fuyuan Restaurant to enter the garage), which was incredibly convenient. It's about a 7-minute walk to the ancient city's commercial street, yet the hotel itself is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. The ambiance is beautifully characteristic of Shanxi, and the breakfast was incredibly rich and varied – I even took a few photos! I will definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Datong!

Facilities: The facilities are complete. The front desk lobby features a reception area, reading area, small office area, and children's play area, offering comprehensive and comfortable amenities. In addition to essential facilities, the rooms are equipped with a smart voice assistant that connects to the entire smart system. Appliances and curtains can be controlled by voice. Besides the sleeping area, there is a small refrigerator and a comfortable sofa. Cleanliness: The rooms are clean and odor-free. Cleaning staff can perform cleaning according to guests' requests. The bathroom has a smart toilet with a high degree of automation. The rooms are warm and have ample hot water. Environment: Convenient transportation. There is a bus stop right outside, parking spaces in the courtyard, and easy access to taxis. The surrounding area is quiet with no unusual noises. The front desk and elevator are clean, the corridors are bright, and the rooms are spacious. It was a very comfortable stay. Service: Excellent service! The staff were very friendly! The shuttle service was very thoughtful. This is a high-quality and affordable hotel overall! I would definitely choose this hotel again if needed!

The mattress was comfortable, and all beverages were complimentary. Breakfast: The breakfast was plentiful and offered a wide variety of options, catering to different regional tastes. The noodle chef was particularly helpful, advising guests on toppings and quantities for the noodles. Service: The front desk area had an open layout, and the service staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall: We frequently choose Quanji Hotels for both leisure and business travel, and my wife commented that this is the best Quanji property she has ever stayed at.
