2-Star Hotels in Davao

THE SITUATION We were on a budget and planned to stay for an entire week. We chose The Strand because the online information said it: 1) Was in the right location (near malls) 2) Fit our budget of less than 1000 pesos a night 3) Pictures showed it was clean and looked fairly new 4) Didn't have that motel vibe PROS: 1) Affordable -- less than 1000 a night, man. 2) Friendly, accommodating staff -- we had to change our booking because we were going to stay in another hotel after our first night in Davao, and then go back to The Strand on the third night. Of course, we gave this confirmation before the no cancellation deadline, but what I liked was that we didn't have to do any rebooking online. The staff arranged the modification for us. 3) Morning coffee and bread -- The booking.com information said that breakfast wasn't included. They actually serve one cup of coffee (Nescafe 3-in-1) and one piece of bread (stuffed pandesal) from 6am-10am. It's not a substitute for a proper breakfast, but it can stave off hunger while you're on your way to finding a restaurant or cafe. 4) New building -- It was built only 2 years ago 5) Clean -- Some dirt between the bathroom tiles but not a big deal CONS: 1) Steep & limited parking -- We cracked the car's front fender, and there were only two parking slots. Another option is street parking, but then won't be as secure. 2) No 24-hour pharmacies within walking distance -- I got sick and the hotel doesn't sell paracetamols either. Bring your own med kit if you plan to stay here. 3) No elevator -- They only have 4 levels, so not a big deal unless you're a PWD. Just request for a lower floor upon booking, NOT upon check-in. 4) No jeepney or bus stops nearby -- it's an 8-10 minute walk from the hotel to the nearest street with public transport. We suggest downloading the Grab application so that you can book a taxi anytime. Davao taxi drivers are nice :) 5) Saggy mattress OVERALL: Great for those who are no-frills travelers. The room was very basic, but spacious and clean (we booked a studio). However, next time we might stay somewhere else with better parking and closer to a convenience store or pharmacy. There were other minuscule inconveniences but at such a cheap price per night I was happy to just let them go.

It was pretty decent for its price. Though, when I came in there, they've checked me in on a different room as the one that I've booked is not available. There is also a dog that was so noisy that I couldn't sleep. They've transferred me to my original room the day after. I've extended my stay here for a week and it's cool if you're on a budget.

Me and my friend had a few days stay in RedDoorz Plus near SM Lanang. It is very affordable and worth your money. It has a basic amenities (bed, private t&b, tv, acu, window, toiletries, small table). But it is enough for people who are looking for a place just to sleep and most of the time outside. The room is not that spacious. Location wise: very accessible for taxi and grab, very close to SM Lanang like you can walk going there Amenities nearby: restaurant on the ground floor, stores across & nearby, laundry shop a few meters away Staff is very accommodating and helpful.

What i like about this hotel is its very near to the facility where my appointment is and its also not that expensive. The overall experience in this hotel was good. I only stayed for a night and checkout on the following morning. There's no free breakfast for online booking so i look for a carenderia outside the compound of the subdivision. The room is quite old yet its clean though. So thats all. Thanks.

Neat and clean facility... Kindness of staff I was going to stay for one night and move, but I made a reservation right away for another day~~~^.^ What's better... Food around the hotel is plentiful, and above all Because Starbucks is there... You can drink cold coffee anytime... McDonald's and Yellow Cab are 24 hours. There is also a 7-Eleven, so it's perfect for a late-night snack. Hotel location... Have a good rest..

This hotel is in a quiet residential area but within walking distance to ride. The hotel probably was quite busy and nice prior to the pandemic. It still is but there’s a LOT of deferred maintenance that needs done. It’s understandable at this time but I hope it can be fixed soon. The staff is excellent and I had no hassles with my stay. Internet is 60mbps (upload & download) so the fast speed made me give a higher rating of 4 stars 😊

Decided to stay there since it is situated in the heart of Davao City. My room has a smell of cigarette smoke. When I opened the room’s window, there were a lot of cigarette butts outside. The hotel seems to be poorly maintained. The front desk personnel though were nice and accommodating.

So far, our stay in this place was worthed. A simple and quiet room not too far away from the highway. We spent only for night but we had a good sleep. The place is clean and organized. This is a hostel, not the same with the hotel set up but the staff are good. Though one thing I observed and needs improvement is that the Toilet/Bath room we were assigned can be looked through by others from a high room to our window. So we had to put a towel to block the window view.

I arrived at the hotel a bit late than the usual check-in time, but the staffs were there to assist me well with my booking. Yes the staffs was very friendly and accommodating especially Lyn and Anabelle (I am not sure if I got the right name, sorry). Too grateful for their assistance and friendly gestures during my stay (even if it is just for an overnight). However, the only thing I am just being disappointed during my stay was that the 1st room (211) I moved into was not too comfortable in a sense that, I couldn't lock its windows, no remote for their TV, aircon was too loud, and the outlets for charging phones and gadgets are not even close with the bedside. Also the wifi connection is pretty bad in that specific area so as the mobile connections. Anyhow, when I have informed the front desk staff on duty in regards to my concerns, Lyn and Annabelle were there right away to assist me and helped me to move to a vacant single room (213). There, I was able to rest properly as things are much better that the 1st room. Just a minor thing with room 213 for them to double check, toilet was broken at that time ( I was so tired already to complain about it as I need sleep) but the wifi is okay as it is close already with the wifi router. Another thing though, no complimentary water, tea, or coffee. Anyway, if you are looking for a decent and good value for money, OYO 133 Jazzy James Country Hotel II absolutely recommended!
