The hotel is in a beautiful isolated location with a nearby small village. No shops that I saw! It is like a museum but its interesting!! We were 3 in a very spacious room with a balcony overlooking water and wildlife. No kettle in room but we requested a safe and it was there when we arrived, don't know if this was standard! The room was cleaned every day and was warm and comfortable. The bathroom is built for accessibility and may seem strange to most but we found it ok. The shower was easy to use and its a wet room style. Large accessible lift. Meals were in the main hotel and buffet style, basic but plenty of choice. Breakfast includes eggs, toast, cereals, breads, ham and cheese. Evening meal included, curry/rice, spaghetti bolognese, lovely salmon, usually some sort of potato and a salad. Soup is served every night, including mustard and sweet corn soup etc.. Tea/coffee, water on table. Desert ok, included apple Charlotte, profiteroles, ice cream, tiramusu etc... Bar and lounge area where most relaxed with a drink at night. Drinks were reasonably priced a small glass of wine 3€ or a large for 6€. A lovely touch in the lounge area you can have a cuppa for 2€ and a choice of free biscuits. Also at reception every day they topped up free Liquorice allsorts. Staff we found lovely and hard working. I would have liked to see some background info on the hotel and its antiques but didn't see any! There are antiques everywhere, inside, outside, hanging from ceilings and walls, upstairs and downstairs. We were greeted by a lady who spoke to us all and gave us our keys! Shame the location didn't have more around but Amsterdam, bulbfields, Edam etc.. are a drive away. Hotel seemed ideal for those travelling around by road. All in all an enjoyable stay!!
