Hampton Inn Deadwood at Tin Lizzie Gaming Resort

Decent hotel. We got a suite with the hot tub inside. We were surprised at the size of the suite. There was a living room area and another room with the bed and the hot tub, TVs in both rooms Hot tub is a decent size for 2 adults. Very slippery though, they need to put some bathmat in there, you end up sliding if you sit back a little. For the price that we got, I wouldn't complain though. If I had to pay extra for that room because it's a suite, I don't think I would. Everything seems pretty old and needs some upgrades. Furniture is 70s-80s style. Otherwise, clean and decent.

The hotel was very clean, a little older of a hotel but it had covered parking area which was nice. A nice breakfast was included every morning which included cereal, eggs, pancakes, waffles, breads, etc.. We went for Sturgis Bike week so everything was extremely busy and of course we paid more than three times the price per night for the hotel. It was close to Deadwood, walking distance to restaurants, bars and shops. Lots to do in the area. If we go back, it would be before or after bike week so it wouldn't have been so busy.

The location of the hotel was easily walkable to Downtown Historic Deadwood, even though it is located at the edge of town. There is also a local shuttle. There is a ****** located on the main floor, with the hotel above. Check-in on the 2nd floor. Know in advance the rooms are very small with no closet or storage. There was a bar with a few hangers on it and some hooks. When I inquired about the lack of storage and space I was told the hotel was designed to resemble a European Hostel. That was not what I was looking for, but I had booked the room already, and we were traveling with another couple, and we wanted to stay together. There is absolutely no unpacking your luggage if you are there for an extended stay. We were there for 2 nights, and we had to rearrange the tiny tables, so we were able to open our 24 inch suitcases at the same time without using the bed. If you are a backpacker it’s fine. If you have children or are staying for an extended amount of time inquire about a larger room, or stay somewhere else. But the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The lighting in the room was interesting to say the least. It was either off or on with megawatt brightness. The lights located in the ceiling over the head of the bed are super bright, and they are not dimmable. Also there is only 1 switch to operate them on 1 side of the bed. I wish there had been a low watt lamp on the other side of the bed because my husband usually falls asleep an hour or 2 before me. Luckily for me my phone has a flashlight app. The bathroom was bright and clean with soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion provided, along with a hairdryer. I was easily able to get extra towels. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate were available 24/7. The breakfast provided was delicious. It was the best on our trip. They have a pancake machine that resembles an Easy bake oven. The fresh pancakes it made were very good, and it was fun to watch! The hotel also provided scrambled eggs, toast, and bagels with a breakfast meat. Oatmeal, 2 different cereals, and fresh fruit were also available. Just go early. Breakfast ends at 9 am sharp. Know before you go!

An OK hotel, but not as good as depicted on the website photos. The rooms are clean and tidy, but are starting to look a bit tired and in need of a good refurbishment. No breakfast, although there is a reasonably good restaurant next to the hotel. The good thing was that a hopper bus stopped right outside the hotel for journeys into and from Deadwood. Deadwood was also disappointing; it looks like a great old western town from the photos, but when you walk along the street you’re met with loads of noisy casinos and tourist traps. The nearby town of Lead was much more interesting.
