1. At four figures per night, over a thousand yuan a night isn't cheap. But the owner was stingy with bottled water, making you buy your own, haha.
2. The facilities are relatively new; the hairdryer is a Dyson. However, there's no TV, and the room isn't very large, about the size of a typical Ji Hotel room.
3. The complimentary breakfast is very simple. No drinks included; coffee, juice, and milk are extra.
Breakfast consists of: a choice between rice noodles and regular noodles, a fried egg, and a side dish.
4. The view is great, and there are few people, so taking photos isn't crowded.
5. Hiking poles, crampons, and snow gaiters can be borrowed. However, most of the hiking poles are no longer usable.
Finally, a suggestion: Since the price is high-end and the decor and view are nice, hopefully the service will reflect that. Don't be stingy; you won't save much money anyway.

The public area's direct view of the snow-capped mountains is already unparalleled. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the staff's service is incredibly thoughtful. On the first day, because we took the Ice Lake route and arrived quite late, they even messaged and called us, concerned about potential dangers on the night road and asking if we needed help. Every day before we left, they would ask about our route and prepare necessary supplies (e.g., Pocari Sweat/Snickers/nuts for squirrels), as well as medicine, masks, dental floss, and so on. Because we had to leave the village early in the morning, they even helped us with urgent laundry and prepared breakfast. All the amenities are reusable, and the owner must be an experienced outdoor enthusiast, truly practicing environmental protection. This is exactly the kind of place hikers like us should stay. We are so lucky to have met Yu Shan in Yubeng.

We took the bus from Shangrila and the hotel picked us up at a designated spot for a quick 5 minute drive through some of the most spactacular mountain sunset views.
Check in was quick, easy and within minutes we were shown to our room. The room was huge with a floor to ceiling window facing Meili Mountain, a bathtub and projector with huge screen. The sofa was so big I began to think it was a bed.
The shower and toilet were spotlessly clean with beautiful large warm towels as well as some quality toiletries and bathrobes.
The bedroom was well appointed with very large bed, writing desk and a good oxygen supply. The whole place had underfloor heating which was super comfortable.
This little hotel has a rooftop bar/cafe with the most spectacular views. Drinks range from tea and coffee to some cocktails all of which are served with snacks by a very pleasant young man. He was super helpful each time we visited the bar and even made sure the stove was well stocked with logs on the night we wanted to stay late to see the stars.
We had local breakfast at the hotel each morning which was of excellent quality and very filling. We also had our evening meals at the hotel and the quality was excellent with great flavour and variety.
The staff are all super helpful and were able to recommend some local spots to visit as well as arrange a car to Feilai Temple and a car to take us back to Shangrila for a great price.
The whole experience at Deqen Meili GY Banshan Homestay made me wish I had booked more nights. It was the highlight of my trip to Yunnan and I will definitely stay here again next time. I can highly recommend and I miss it so much!

GGuest UserI booked this hotel without knowing that it is known for and it was a good surprise from almost every perspective of my experience. The staff in Sunyata are very friendly, well presented and treated us with their trained professionalism as well as friendliness. Both the hotel and room interior are designed thoughtfully and by later reading the magazine that was left in the room I realised that it was meant to be a masterpiece which I think is what has been achieved with no efforts spared. The top floor enjoying a 270 degree unobstructed view of the snow mountains obviously is the cherry on the top of the cake, and it absolutely delivered and truly made the stay in the hotel one of the most unforgettable experience in Meili. The amenities are nicely provided in good quality, and the beddings feel comfortable and clean. The food we had in the attached restaurant was delicious and the interior is also a masterpiece 24 hours in a day. The only shortcoming that I can say about my experience is that the food in the self served area for the breakfast became empty with still about one hour to go, and staff seemed unbothered or even intended to do so. Overall it is a beautiful boutique hotel which was beautifully designed and operated with a high standard. I would like to revisit if I can.

AAngela422Environment: The location is absolutely prime, at the highest point of Wunongding, with the snow-capped mountains right before your eyes. My room faced Mount Meizimu directly, and the thirteen peaks were arrayed magnificently. It's not far from Yike Tree and Feilai Peak; the location is truly unbeatable, and the hotel's design aesthetic is on point.
Service: Both days I stayed, the hotel was fully booked. This trip to Yunnan, I booked several top-tier hotels consecutively, and Podo was the last to contact me. I even had to bother Trip.com a few times after my calls went unanswered. Once we connected on WeChat, the service was very much online, timely, and quick to respond.
Facilities: Given the altitude of 3500m, and coming directly from Kunming to Shangri-La, oxygen supply was crucial. The hotel was very prompt with this, providing two oxygen tanks daily, which I greatly appreciated. There were also many hotel activities, like Thangka painting and making sachets, which provided a great experience.
Hygiene: Cleaning was timely, and the amenities were Bvlgari.
Dining: Considering its mountaintop location, the dining was already quite good. The complimentary afternoon tea every day was a highlight. However, for dinner, hotpot was pretty much the only option, as the full occupancy limited their capacity.
I didn't get to see the ”golden mountain in the sunrise” for two consecutive days, but I saw the thirteen peaks of Meili the moment I entered Deqin. I believe this means good luck for the New Year. Many thanks to the hotel butler for their meticulous care. I loved the small gift given at check-out. Thank you, hope to see you again.

MM222043****The room experience was excellent. The hotel's location is superb, right in the heart of Wunongding. You can photograph the 'sunlit golden mountains' directly from the large fifth-floor terrace, without needing to go to crowded observation decks. The rooms are clean and tidy, with oxygen supply and floor heating. The front desk staff (both the ladies and gentlemen) had an excellent service attitude. It's truly heartwarming that the hotel even offers breakfast at an altitude of over 3,000 meters on the plateau.

AAnonymous UserThe view in the room is spectacular. You can see the view of the snow mountain and lush green mountains while taking a bath or in bed. It was the most wonderful stay for us.
The room also came with all the amenities needed, equipped with a Dyson hairdryer and a Smeg kettle, which seems very suitable for the price.
They also provide a free laundry service, which they will deliver clean clothes by your door in the morning. Beverages including water, soft drinks, coffee and tea are all included and can be provided as much as you need. They also prepared us sandwiches for us to take for our day hike.
The young lady at the front desk, who is also a barista, took very good care of us. She is always active on Wechat for any requests we may have. She also kindly helped us to arrange a van to pick us up from Ninong to Feilaisi.
Definitely a rewarding stay after long hikes!

AAnonymous UserThey say you might not see the ”Golden Mountain in the Sun” in October, so I booked this place to avoid wasting money on a view that might not deliver. Turns out, we actually saw it! Super worth it!! The location is right next to where the bus drops you off, so it's a very easy walk, and close to the Feilai Temple viewing platform. The room was unbelievably spacious, and the underfloor heating worked perfectly. There are only four or five rooms, and the view is absolutely stunning. The owner is very simple and enthusiastic. I highly recommend this for anyone hoping to catch the Golden Mountain but worried about a wasted 4-hour drive if they miss it. The accommodation quality is easily more than triple that of other scenic hotels at the same price point, and the courtyard itself can help ease any disappointment if you don't see the sunrise.
Let's talk about the downsides:
1. Feilai Temple is currently under construction, so there are large vehicles at night. I personally wasn't bothered by the noise, but I can't guarantee others wouldn't be. This seems to be a common issue for hotels along this road.
2. The room was very clean and tidy, but I wasn't a fan of the air freshener scent. My partner didn't notice it, though.
3. There were some really large flies. I hope the owner can improve pest control. Although they'll probably freeze to death in a few days, seeing them definitely puts a damper on the mood.

MM279721****The room was cozy, clean, and comfortable, with a tasteful decor throughout. The underfloor heating and diffused oxygen supply meant we didn't have to worry about altitude sickness at all. The staff were warm and friendly! There's also a cafe and an observation deck on the top floor where you can see Baima Snow Mountain and Feilai Temple. The afternoon sun was perfect for photos, and the scenery was absolutely stunning!
The hotel's location isn't far from the Meili Snow Mountain observation deck, so transportation is very convenient. There's a snack street near the Feilai Temple observation deck, and watching the snow-capped mountains in the evening is beautiful—highly recommended! The hotel's restaurant is on the first floor, which is super convenient if you don't feel like going out in the cold.
