The overall experience at Mogan Mountain House was quite mixed. While the service was truly excellent the staff were warm, responsive, and made every effort to help other aspects of the stay fell short of expectations. The cleanliness of the place wasn’t up to standard. The rooms and common areas could have been maintained better. The location was also a big disappointment; it was either too remote, difficult to access, or simply not what we expected from a scenic getaway. Amenities were limited and didn’t quite match the descriptions online, some were outdated or not functioning properly. That said, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff did make a difference and is probably the highlight of this stay. With some improvements in hygiene, facilities, and better transparency around the location, this could be a much more enjoyable place.

The air was fresh and cool. After a day of exploring, we arrived at a locally built guesthouse. The two detached buildings weren't large, but the courtyard was exquisitely landscaped and lush with greenery. The rooms were cozy and clean. However, the breakfast included in the room rate was no longer provided, citing the low room rate. We had to order our own breakfast for 10 yuan – plain porridge, eggs, and steamed buns – simple and refreshing. Little Wangwang was especially adorable.

I arrived late at night. The auntie and her child came to greet me and made me some hot noodles. The auntie's cooking was delicious; I ended up eating at their place several more times afterward. Their qingtuan (green glutinous rice dumplings) were absolutely amazing—I haven't had any better ones in Shanghai. The room was also quite nice, very clean, and quiet at night. I would stay here again next time. Great value for money.

The room felt uncleaned when I checked in; it was filthy, and there was even a bug in the blanket. I was speechless and furious. It was already past midnight, so I didn't argue with the owner. But the room was incredibly dirty; please don't stay there. There was a terrible smell of pig manure as soon as you entered. The windows weren't even open for ventilation. It looked quite nice in the pictures, but the experience was extremely poor.
