Sunshine City Prince Hotel Ikebukuro Tokyo

I highly recommend this hotel. The transportation is incredibly convenient. It's just an 8-minute walk from the hotel through the Sunshine City mall to both the subway and JR stations – you can enjoy some window shopping on your way. Plus, there's an airport shuttle right outside the hotel, so you don't have to lug your luggage around. There was a slight delay during check-in due to an order issue, but the hotel upgraded our room and even gave us some cookies as an apology, which was a lovely gesture. The room was cleaned daily, and the 24-hour FamilyMart downstairs was super handy for late-night snacks. I'd definitely book this hotel again.

The hotel reception has staff who speak Chinese. It's located inside a shopping mall in Ikebukuro, which is great for browsing with lots of anime-themed stores. Dining options are plentiful and very convenient, plus there's a direct shuttle bus to the airport.

The room was a bit small, but that's typical for Tokyo where space is at a premium – you get used to it. The 1.4m bed was fine for two people, and the duvet was larger than in other hotels. The bedding and pillows were very comfortable, and the night view from the window was beautiful. JR and subway lines are easily accessible, about a 10-minute walk away. The Yurakucho Line is the most convenient; you can just exit through the hotel's side door, walk through Sunshine City, and you're there – great for rainy days. The hotel staff were also very friendly and helpful, especially the front desk receptionists in the lobby.

The hotel room was spacious for Japan. At peak times, there were four or five staff members at the front desk handling check-ins simultaneously. You can store your luggage there, and there's an airport shuttle, but it needs to be booked in advance. The service was excellent. Highly recommend! 👍
