"Some of the reviews on this hotel are incredibly harsh to the point I almost cancelled due to fear, maybe things were different before but I had a great experience here despite having high standards. The rooms were finished to high spec, the service was good and fast and the hotel offers a peaceful quiet atmosphere (something not so common in Palomino or in the Caribbean region in general). If you want to be close to Palomino town this isn't the best choice for you as it's a little further out but that's why it's peaceful! The restaurant is just okay I'd say, it's a little pricey and the food is good but not spectacular. The cocktails are very good though! "

"The hotel is not far from Palomino. It is a very beautiful, well-kept complex. We had the "Casa dos", a large room in the main building (1st floor) with a large balcony. The room/bathroom were very good and clean. The facilities were rather poor. There was a fridge, but it was empty. The safe was broken, so you could only use the key. There was soap and shampoo, that was it. All the lights on our balcony were broken. The pool and whirlpool were great, the beach was fantastic. The staff were friendly. Special feature: There are several macaws and a toucan that live there freely, are tame and like to hang out at reception. Basically a wonderful place to relax and enjoy. The hotel works with "Tour Aventura Palomino", with whom we booked a few excursions. Big praise to the agency. They responded to individual requests, treated us excellently and the price was completely OK. All the excursions took longer than originally stated, which means: They took the time to make it nice for us. Thank you for that. Excursions included: quad biking, Cascadas de Quebrada Valencia and a horse riding trip. Unfortunately, there is also criticism: 1) We were there at a time when the hotel was almost empty. Nevertheless, you always have to wait forever for everything. The service is not up to scratch. 2) The food is not appropriate for a hotel like this, the so-called breakfast buffet does not deserve the name. There are four types of eggs, some fruit, coffee, cocoa, juice, cereal, a bit of bread and jam. That's it. It was like that the whole time. The only variations are the types of fruit and juice. The food on the menu sounds good, but is mostly over-seasoned and not particularly good. A shame. 3) A no-go for me is the watered-down cocktails. They absolutely avoid making you wait for the cocktails. They always bring them. The reason is simple: instead of alcohol, they mix in loads of lemon juice. A certain system is evident. The mojitos were good at first, but got blander each time. Conclusion: The complex is great, the surroundings are even better. The beach is beautiful and you can walk along the beach to Palomino (I would recommend this to everyone and also to see Palomino). We were there for a week and that is definitely too long. The hotel seems to be designed for guests to only stay one or two nights. Then the bad food is not that noticeable. Personally, I think it's a shame and therefore I'm torn between satisfactory and good. The hotel has a lot of potential. Everything that is needed is there. If the service and food were adapted accordingly, it would be highly recommended and a real alternative to the typical tourist places like Santa Marta, Cartagena, etc."

"A beautiful place on the beach with cabins that fit in with the surroundings and a building with a novel design in the shape of a beehive. For me it would have been just another hotel on the seafront, but the entrance through a mangrove on a wooden bridge was quite an experience, a walk of several meters through the mangrove and at the end you arrive at the hotel, the beach and the sea... At night it is worth walking along the mangrove path which is very well lit and enjoying the sounds and shapes of nature. The best thing is that there are no noisy neighbors for miles. The attention of Germán and his entire team was exceptional, the cuisine was delicious and the rooms were very comfortable... Definitely a place to repeat... highly recommended."

The rooms are tastefully decorated with organic furniture: log canopy beds, rattan lamps, tree trunk tables, and cotton hammocks. The infinity pool and the bar are perfect to enjoy the sunset. "You don't get 5* rating because you sent a booking confirmation with a story begging for 5* because you support a good cause, of which there is nothing to be found back while staying. So, only 4 from me because it is still a good place to stay. We booked the fancy looking deluxe bungalow but changed for our second night to the stone huts which have an air conditioning unit. The bungalow only had a fan. It also turned out that we payed 30k more than a standard bungalow because we had a 'minibar'. Well, that minibar is an empty small fridge... which we turned off as we had nothing to cool. Breakfast, albeit a bit small is of good quality. Free coffee until the pot is empty... During both afternoons it rained heavily which resulted in power cuts, leaving the airco useless. A generator kicks in to supply the kitchen and wifi. The kitchen is quite good as in the second night we had diner there. The rain made it more or less impossible to go out. The bed in both rooms were small, with not very fit matrasses. During our whole trip in Colombia we only slepped in doubles that are maximum 140 cm wide. Why? Don't they make them any bigger here? 🤔"
