I spent a week at Dongwe in late March. What can I say? An amazing place. The staff was welcoming, and the cuisine was excellent, led by Chef Salvatore, who delighted us every day with delicious Italian dishes—and more. I absolutely loved the jetty, a perfect spot to relax during the day and a stunning location for enjoying a seafood dinner in the evening. Beach and pool parties under a magnificent African starry sky made the experience even more special. Everything was truly fantastic. A special mention goes to the manager, Giorgio Scudu, who runs the entire resort with remarkable skill and professionalism.

We had the pleasure of spending our holiday at this resort and we were delighted. A strong point that makes this structure unique is its elegance and it’s well inserted in the surroundings. Being inserted in a spectacular garden you don't even notice the buildings. The cuisine is authentic, and the strength lies in the careful selection of products, fishes, fruits, vegetables, pasta, live pizza stations and grilled meat and fishes. The value added of Dongwe is the jetty long 350 meters which stretches out in the Indian Ocean. There you can enjoy an exclusive sun deck, a nice bar and for the dinner one of the best restaurant in the island, the Blue with seafood menu. The advantage of having a pier so far from the beach you can avoid the very annoying local sellers.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this resort for couples and families, as it offers plenty of activities for children as well. Although the resort was fully booked during our stay, we never felt crowded because the property is so spacious. The standout features include the exceptional service, the beautiful beach, and the impressive 350-meter-long pier extending into the ocean. At the end of the pier, you'll find the renowned Blue restaurant, the perfect spot for a superlative romantic dinner featuring an exquisite shellfish menu.

Today, 20/02/2025, it's also been in Terrible sound the ol day The sender has a complaint about the noise. We arrived at the hotel Dongwe club resort from 12-02-2025 from 14 days They did not inform us that there is a large construction going on in the neighborhood of the hotel . it is impossible to stay in a hotel , don't go. no one should be here because of the terrible construction noise from the neighboring area

As a Zanzibar Destination wedding planner i look for Accomodation and wedding venues for my client. The day i went to Dongwe i knew this is what i was looking for. The Jetty as the wedding venue with clear waters,the white sand by the beach,the coconut trees,the food was so tasty chef Salvatory was so good. He work with his team on ground. Julius and phesto from FNB the whole team were so good. Above all was the flexibility from the manager and accomodating us to ensire we had a beautiful wedding. I slept in a huge beautiful room the suit. I really can't thank you enough buy want to go back.i highly recommend

I do not recommend to choose this hotel at the moment since there are construction works nearby and you wont be able to enjoy your holidays! The sound is just ridiculous. Overall the houtel if fine, but the contruction make your holidays terrible!! We loved the food, the people. All in all hotel is pretty old, but nice and clean. But the construction works make your head blow! Be careful if you dont want to get headache because of terrible sound which lasts every day from beggining till the end of the day!

I chose this place because of the effusively positive reviews. However, our experience was not anything like what these reviews say. First, the room was dark and smelled of mold. We were first given a downstairs room that smelled of mold. We then asked to be moved upstairs, but that room smelled the same. Next, the food. We thought, based on it being Italian owned, that the food would be very special. It was just average — various pastas and not very good pizza. Breakfast was very basic. Even the coffee was not so great— not like the wonderful cappuccinos you get in the morning in Italy. On the positive side, the grounds were lovely. The pool was huge and beautiful. They have activities like snorkel trips and exercise classes. And the staff is lovely. But the beach is overrun with people who want to sell you things or braid your hair. They shout and chase after you in a fierce and desperate way. We stayed in another hotel on the same beach later that week, and they had a sign posted saying that this beach vendor activity is illegal in Tanzania and not to purchase from these vendors. And they had staff out there to make sure of it. So there the beach could be enjoyed. A huge difference!

My family enjoyed every part of the place. The pool, the jetty, the food. The rooms are big enough and clean. The staff is friendly and always made sure we had one table despite of being a bigger group of people than other guests. The Christmas Eve buffet dinner was amazing and the band. Would definitely recommend
