Strathview Lodge

The Strathview Lodge is located outside Dornoch with a fantastic view across to Loch Fleet. The rooms are a good size with very comfortable beds and good facilities. I had a decking area outside my room that I could use once the weather cleared. The owners are very friendly and competent. I arrived an hour early and absolutely soaked. They were amazing, made me welcome and I was soon feeling much better. The Full Scottish Breakfast they provide is extremely good. This was an excellent first night for my holiday. Thank you

A fantastic place to stay for the first night of our North Coast 500 tour. The property sits in an elevated position on the A9 with great views. Room was a great size, with very comfortable bed. Breakfast very good. Recommended, hosts couldn’t do enough for us

At the start of our journey of the nc500 we were saddened when we went to check in to find out our booking was not honoured, despite all our paper work . After an hour, Gavin was finally convinced that it was their mistake and hugely embarrassed. However his partner throughout this time did not want to engage in reading their email confirmation and the fact full payment had been made, she was very rude. This was reinforced as we left the property with our deposit returned when during the time in the kitchen it was clear our booking would not be honoured even though we had an email from the b&b themselves. We were left to leave the property unescorted, and had to find our own alternative accommodation at this late stage in the evening. We were pretty shaken up by the ordeal, as a result we would not recommend this b&b to anyone. This is a measured response 3 days after and the benefit of having excellent b&b,s as we continue our trip.

It is just off North Coast 500 Road - excellent location just outside Dornoch The room itself was very light with views across the loch All facilities and amenities were provided in the room and toiletries of excellent quality The most important consideration for an overnight stay is a comfortable bed - all the bed linen was of highest quality with pillow protectors, mattress topper and down light weight duvet. The breakfast was excellent with expresso coffee and generous choice of full cooked breakfast or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs The owner was open to ideas and even though it was a constructive criticism regards access from carpark to house he responded positively It was quite a hike up narrow steps from car park to house entrance - possibly a little challenging in wet or wintry conditions.A one way system which enables you to drop your luggage off could be a winner I suggest a see through out but not in blind inanition to curtains to improve privacy as the windows facing the terrace and house entrance The last two points are minor discussion points but do not impact on rating
