Fantastic stay and dinner, loved the room, food, drink and friendly northern hospitality from the welcoming staff. Awesome dinner and the midweek B&B is a bargain relative to comparable high standard hotels in the region and especially in the Dales and Lakes. Go on, treat yourself! Ate here last night for our wedding anniversary. The food and service was excellent.The sauce with my mussel starter was so tasty and the flavours on my wife’s starter was amazing. My venison main course was beautifully presented and tasted great and my wife’s plaice was delicate and delicious. Our first visit but won’t be our last after a fabulous night.

We loved it, but would like to suggest a few things. Our room was situated in between the house keeping cupboard and another room. This did wake us up on a couple of occasions, In addition the slamming of doors, which we purely put down to the doors being quite heavy and other guests not bearing this in mind, so not as peaceful as it could’ve been. These things wouldn’t completely deter us from returning. The rooms are lovely, the staff and the food are wonderful.

perfect on every level This lovely hotel in Waddington is warm ,friendly and comfortable . Headed by by Michael who is a very talented chef and Rebecca and her team who could not have been more friendly and welcoming to us . First time at The Higher Buck and cannot wait to return . We cannot recommend this hotel more highly .

Another wonderful lunch thanks to Rebekah, Gayle and a very accommodating chef. The mackerel starter not only looked beautiful but tasted great. The lamb main was simple exquisite. Their daily specials board is always varied and always top notch/nosh. Thank you.
