Kidron B & B & the Old Manse Guesthouse

Room was nice but the customer service was horrendous. The way the staff spoke to us was unacceptable. They made a mistake on the booking but blamed us and cancelled our booking. They were very rude to us. Will not be back again. Ruined our weekend.

Booked for an overnight stay at the last minute due to our ferry to Arran being cancelled. Room was spacious and clean. Was basic- definitely not 4*. We were happy enough with the room but there was no staff available at check in and tried calling the phone number provided with no answer. We weren't aware that there wasn't any food available at the b&b and so had to drive into the town to find food for the kids. Everytime we turned the bathroom light on there was a very strong smell of smoke coming through the extractor fan which was unpleasant. Walls are paper thin also so could hear other guests. We thought breakfast was included in the price so we were surprised to incur a charge for this. We arrived down at breakfast and tried to find staff but place was empty and despite my husband calling out noone appeared. After helping ourselves to the continental breakfast and turning the toaster on a member of staff appeared. We ordered a cooked breakfast which I deemed inedible and didn't touch. It looked awful and my husband said it was horrible. Soaked in oil and looked like very cheap meat with lots of fat. The kids didn't eat theirs either. Member of staff was very unwelcoming and unfriendly. For those reasons we wouldn't stay again.
