Staff: Exceptional. I have no sense of direction and was not sure where to go once I entered the area. The receptionist on duty kindly and patiently asked about my location and came to pick me up. Whether coming or going each of the people on duty at that time greeted me with a smlie and were incredibly patient with my lack of Chinese. In fact, the young woman who picked me up spoke flawless English.
Getting there: I was dropped off by a tea shop and the Yingfu Apartment complex just outside the pedestrian only area. After exploring a little bit it seems to be the closest drop-off point. When you reach the intersection you'll see the statue of an old man fishing on the left. That's the way you want to go. It's just a few shops down on the left and has a helpful spotlight on the sidewalk in front of it to mark the location.
Pros: Located close to possibly everything you'd want to see in a day trip or even a weekend visit. Most of the sites are even within walking distance. It's incredible. I loved my room. I splurged on the Double with a pool and liked it so much I immediately extended my stay another night. In all honesty, the area and the town also influenced my decision as well as the kindness of my rescuer! 😁 Her sweet manner and warmth put me immediately at ease and soothed the nerves that were quite raw from traveling during a major public holiday. Had it not been for her I'd have left the next day.
Cons: The noise. My stay was pleasant and super comfortable, but not peaceful. The businesses on the street close after 9pm which was honestly not a problem for me, but may affect those who sleep early. Early in the morning, around 6:50am both mornings I was there the hotel began to stir. Guests and their children were calling back and forth quite loudly. Again, for early risers this is not a problem. For someone who likes to go to bed late and wake up late (around 8/9am when the businesses also begin to open) this was a bit frustrating. 😓😢 That being said, given the choice, I'd still stay here again.
TLDR; Ideal location within walking distance of several popular tourist spots with everything a visitor could want or need including ATMs. ☺️👍🏾👍🏾 The staff is amazing and the rooms are clean, comfortable, well appointed, and pleasant smelling. The welcome fruit and drinks were fresh, delicious and most welcome. 😁 However, guests should be mindful that it is located in a busy area so noise might be a problem.
