Superior Shores

This resort at first glance has the lodge feel of the 80's, but there is so much more behind the scenes! Pool and huge hot tub outdoors were crystal clear and we spent a great deal of time here. The back of the resort has a huge open lawn for Cornhole, fire pits, and outdoor lawn games. The walk to the beach opens to a large family friendly shoreline for swimming or rockhounding. There is another fire pit with comfortable chairs. S'mores kits in lobby for free are also a nice touch. Scenery is beautiful! The dated rooms are lodgy and need of a refresh. The infused water in lobby is more like Kool aid. But overall this is a great place for families to enjoy this part of Lake Superior!

I have stayed at Superior Shores numerous times over the years. However, after my most recent stay, I will definitely not be back. To begin with, the unit I rented did not have 1 picture on the wall - not very inviting. The bedding was so thin, I thought it was only sheets - although on further inspection it did have the thinnest comforter I had ever seen. Not enough to keep me warm at night however. My bed was just a mattress sitting on a metal frame - that was all visible. No pretty footboard or comforter like I was used to experiencing. The kitchen had virtually no utensils or kitchen tools - and only 1 pot. There was no chance I could cook in this kitchen. The television was not connected to the internet and there was way to do that on the screens I had so I could not use the television. Oh and I when I tried to call the 1-800 number provided to reach the resort, I was given an automated message saying no one was available and I couldn't leave a message. There are so many options in the Two Harbors area - I would highly recommend finding another one instead of staying here.

Not the room I expected. Website shows a more updated room than what we had. Our door to the room had a gap above it that you could hear hallway noise. Walls are thin as we could hear the TV in the room next to us. My son was looking forward to the sauna, however we learned it was not in the hotel and down a long path near another area. That wasn’t explained well in the hotel description. They had coffee, lemonade, tea and popcorn available. Restaurant area was redone it seems. We had breakfast, food was good but service was very slow with only 3 tables. Restaurant and bar is a higher class look, which doesn’t go with the rest of the look of the resort. Overall, a place to sleep for a night. The resort needs some updating. Website and the actual resort don’t look the same. Location is fantastic as it’s on the rocky beach to enjoy a stroll while looking for Agates.

While searching for a hotel to book for a weekend up north, superior shores looked Like the perfect place based upon the pictures, however, we were mislead. The room we booked did not look like the pictures, it was very outdated, the light switches were broken, and the blinds were bent. The bed and pillows were not comfortable at all. There were hockey teams staying the same time as us and there was no issues with noise so that was a plus! While we made the most of our stay, it was very frustrating we were staying in a very outdated room with broken things and was mislead by the pictures advertised on their website especially given the cost we paid.

It was clean close to the venue we were going to. Nice sitting by fireplace. Bonfire with smores. And coffee all day.
