Tianhe Hotel

This was my first time visiting Dunhuang, and I was pleasantly surprised by the city. After careful consideration before my trip, I chose the Tianhe Hotel. The room was incredibly spacious and very clean. While the breakfast options weren't extensive, they were delicious. The hotel staff were all very enthusiastic, especially Ms. Yang Xiufen from housekeeping, who provided us with excellent and thoughtful service.

The lobby was practically empty, and frankly, they should've spent the money on electricity instead of making it so huge! They didn't even turn on the lights; it was just cold, cold, cold. We had to use the electric heater in our room too! When I opened the curtains, all I saw was a big wall! I have no idea who designed this hotel with a view like that! Plus, you could walk from balcony to balcony all the way down the floor, which felt really exposed. After breakfast on the first day, I had no desire to go back on the second. The tables were ice cold, and while the staff were 'enthusiastically' asking detailed questions, it's a buffet, and having someone constantly standing over you and staring felt like 'forced affection' – not a pleasant experience! Even the glass cups were cracked! The front desk put us in a section with a bunch of wedding guests, and we were driven crazy by kids running in the hallway all night… Out of our entire ten-plus day trip to the Northwest, this was by far the biggest disappointment!

The hotel is quite large, and so are the rooms, but they feel a bit empty with minimal decor. I was initially a bit disappointed with the front desk service during check-in, but they definitely made up for it later. We came back to our room after going out and found a foot bath and a kettle, which the staff had proactively brought. Also, because it was off-season and there weren't many guests, the buffet wasn't open, so the hotel delivered meals to our room. There was a good variety, and the noodles arrived without clumping (though I'll admit they weren't particularly delicious). The air conditioning was a bit noisy, and the toiletries, especially the toothbrush, were of mediocre quality. Other than that, everything else was fine.

The environment at Tianhe Hotel is grand, the hygiene conditions are good, and the service attitude is also excellent. The staff are kind, approachable, meticulous, and thoughtful. Especially noteworthy is the nightly provision of foot-soaking tubs and hot water, which makes it even warmer in winter. Thumbs up!👍
