Pink Sands Resort has a $1,000,000 location on a $1,000,000 beach......BUT much disappointment from our 4 day / 3 night visit. Starting with the positives: The transfers to and from ELH airport were flawless. Shawn is an excellent host and greeter. Of course the beach is gorgeous, and the resort does a good job in raking up sea**** each day, although they might want to start on that a bit earlier. One day the raking didn't start until about 11 am. The ocean view cottage was fine. It's old but has been updated. WiFi was good. TV has closed captioning that seemingly can't be turned off. No BOSE-type sound system -- that's a minus. The food was good and good portions albeit at high prices. $90.00 for breakfast for 2, and that included NO mimosas or bloody Mary's. Downside/downers: The resort was eerily quiet. The main restaurant was closed for renovations. We weren't advised of that even though we had made advance reservations there. The "back-up" restaurant was closed for lunch and dinner one day for a private party. We didn't know about that either until we arrived. We were overcharged for several items at breakfast. The menu and computer disagreed on some prices to our detriment. We were not told that breakfast was included in our package, so we lost two-thirds of that perk. "Back-up" restaurant horribly over lit at night. Just a couple of tables of diners. One worker sitting at a dining room table doing payroll or schedules or some such thing. During breakfast, well, I hope you enjoy high volume Mariah Carey XMAS carols. Old (original?) swimming pool off the beaten path, never used. No one on the tennis courts. Construction of new pool ongoing. Resort grounds mainly lots of workers here and there and lots of **** smell. Workers? Guests? Didn't seem to be very many guests unless they stayed in their cottages the whole time. Beach service. What beach service? Handed four towels and two bottles of water. Set-yourself up, Sir. Never asked if we wanted drinks or food, never left their beach hut. 3 folks in there, they never came out. If you want to sit on your terrace and enjoy the view and visit the beach for $1,300 a night, have at it. Just don't expect any atmosphere, good people watching, or enjoyable take home vibes. An opportunity lost.
