The Ashcroft Apartments

Our stay at The Ashcroft Apartments was extremely disappointing and frankly, disgusting. The moment we checked in, we found a severe and unacceptable lack of hygiene, specifically visible dried fecal matter on the outside of the toilet (as shown in the attached photos). This is a basic sanitation failure and made the apartment feel immediately unlivable. My wife has a serious medical condition (cancer) and multiple allergies, which makes hygiene a critical concern for her health and well-being. Finding such a major issue made her feel truly terrible and unsafe, completely ruining the start of our trip. When we contacted the owner/management to report the issue and request a refund, their response was appalling. Instead of being apologetic or accommodating, the owner insulted us and accused us of "making this up," despite the clear photographic evidence. He refused to issue a refund. The combination of filthy conditions and the disrespectful, hostile response from the owner is completely unacceptable. For your own health, safety, and peace of mind, I strongly urge everyone to avoid booking The Ashcroft Apartments. You deserve better, and certainly a host who will treat you with basic human decency, especially when a serious problem like this is raised.

They were extremely busy and a bit of a rush clean. The staff were very friendly and on call if anything was needed.

Not suitable. No recycling facilities. No thermostat in rooms. No cooking facilities in the room so quite hard to call it a studio. No tumble dryers “apparently not allowed” but every other place in manchester has them. “Hard to collect mail” “Rooms need a refurb. Also Colin watches everything your doing

Me and my 3 other friends had arrived at the Ashcroft apartment where there was no one to let us in for our stay for two nights. We called Collin the caretaker who’s number was provided for our needs numerous times and he didn’t pick up once. We then had to go round the back to find an open door and awake someone from their room at 12:30 to ask how on earth we get in our room. The man kindly told us which room Collin was in and we knocked on his door for about half an hour for him to keep telling us he was coming, which he didn’t. After this half hour Colin finally came to the door and told us there was no room for us. Being 4 young girls 5 hours away from home, this was really scary. We had paid around £400 prior to our stay when we had originally booked to pay on the night. So at this point we are £400 down with no where to stay. Colin had absolutely no idea how to resolve this issue and basically sent us on our way. He kept trying to call Matthew the owner to help him, but he is in Spain and would not answer any of his calls. We had to find else where to stay for our weekend away which costs us each another £110. The service we experienced was absolutely disgusting and the place was an absolute disgrace. We now cannot get hold of Matthew for our refund so we will now be forced to take legal action. DO NOT BOOK TO STAY HERE. (Pictures are from a room one of the guests showed us that they were originally given, they then got moved into someone else’s apartment while they were out and all of their belongings were moved)

Perfect for my visit to Manchester, property easy to access and friendly, helpful caretaker enabled fault-free check in and parking. The accommodation had every amenity needed, including a fully equipped kitchen - only item missing was a hairdryer!

We have booked an apartment for one night as we were attending a family funeral nearby. Because we arrived before the official check in time the room wasn’t cleaned yet which was fine, we were happy to have a place to get changed and leave our bag and we’ve been told the room we were given will be cleaned by the time we come back. When we did arrive back around 1am there were 2 other guests in our apartment, our bag was nowhere to be found and a further 4 guests were without an apartment due to overbooking of the place. The caretaker present had no idea what was going on, how to resolve the issues or where our bag was (it was eventually found in a cleaning room). Very dubious activities by the guests in the room we had checked into earlier. In the end we left at 2am after having had to threat with the police and drove 170miles home. I will lodge an official complaint with Salford City Council in regards to the HMO license of the property.
