The Spires Serviced Apartments Edinburgh

The place was good, location was very ideal as it’s close to everything. The room was neat and clean, but there’s an empty bottle of perfume left beside the bin when I checked in, but that’s a minor issue that can be fixed. My room was located in the 3rd floor, and the city view was nice. Even though there’s loads of cafes and pubs around the area, I didn’t find it noisy or disturbing at all. Just the right atmosphere I’m looking for. My overall stay was very pleasant and the place felt so homey. Would definitely want to come back again next time & will recommend this to my friends. 🙂

I usually write positive reviews but need to share this one so people dont have the same issues Looks like a youth hostel and right above a bar open until the early hours, which is not mentioned anywhere! The lift was broken The doorway at entrance was always open and not secure. Students were using this area to urinate whilst they queued for the bar below and stood outside drinking. The emergency contact number provided nevered answered the call. One of our guests left in the middle of the night as had no sleep due to the noise! I've contacted them via email and phone about a refund just radio silence. Rooms smelt musky and all the equipment they advertise were not in the room. Other guests stayed at Premier in which was far cleaner, less noise, and better located centrally and closer to parking.

Really helpful and accommodating staff. Room was spacious and comfortable. Very clean. Great location within walking distance of everything. Had a lovely stay and staff were very quick to help us and get back to us when sorting check in / check out.

A basic yet very clean apartment with all the necessities. Ideal location for shopping and eating out in Edinburgh. Would stay again

I stayed in a one bed apartment for two nights with my daughter who was there for an interview. The location is good and the apartment was well equipped but it is a noisy area. The morning we were leaving I went to get my prescription medication from the kitchen counter where I had left them the previou morning and discoverer them missing and nowhere to be found. I reported the matter to reception before leaving and again a week after my return and I am still waiting for management to contact me. I would not stay here again.

I stayed two nights on the 11th and 12th December this year with my daughter who was in Edinburgh for a job interview. The apartment was good and in a good location. Good amenities. But I left my prescription medication and vitamins in the kitchen area to remind me to take them in the morning, the first morning they were there the second morning when i went to get them they were gone. I reported the matter to reception who told me they would check the cameras and I am still waiting for a reply.

This accommodation was in a very central location and easy to access the city on foot. Unfortunately, this is where the positive attributes of these apartment's end. We were lied to, our room wasn't available, little to no apology was received for delay, it was very noisy outside the apartments, we found a beetle in our sink, check-in times versus check-out times is criminal, and we had to pay a hefty deposit for the pleasure - complete nightmare start to our trip. We arrived in Edinburgh very early Saturday morning and had been told that the Reception of these apartments was closed on the weekends so the keys could be accessed in a lockbox within the building for check-in at 2pm. As there was supposedly no reception on this day there was nowhere we could leave our bags before this. However, 2pm rolls around and there are no keys in the lockbox - a staff member walked past us twice and mentioned nothing. Another large group came into the tiny corridor where again we sat for another 10 mins with no keys and no staff member in sight. Eventually another woman appeared and when we expressed our dissatisfaction she incredulously stated 'I'm on my own, what do you want me to do' - 2 mins later 2 men walked past supposedly cleaning rooms so she was not in fact 'on her own'. This lady was 'manning' reception (and I use that term very loosely) but there were very clearly bags being stored behind her - we were expressly told this wasn't an option (had we known we could have made the most of our morning). At 2:20, we were told our room is not ready but will be in 5 mins (another lie). She then disappears for 10 mins and even her coworkers cleaning the rooms have no idea where she is. At 2:40 our room is still not ready, and no explanation as to why they were unable to clean 6 rooms between 10 am and the 2pm check-in - the 'excuse' used was they were training a new agency staff member on how to clean the rooms which was taking time - there were 4 staff total and they couldn't clean 6 rooms between them? Unbelievable. The group who arrived just after us to check-in had 2 rooms booked, which appeared to be the same as our 1 room. Instead of giving us each 1 room, we were made to wait which didn't make sense - seemed there was a interim solution that could have worked but there was no thought at all. Unrelated to our room, but another group who checked in didn't have a key as the staff 'misplaced it' - can you really consider yourself checked-in if you don't receive a key? There's a nightclub directly below the apartments and between 1am - 3am there was so much noise on the street directly under our apartment, it was impossible to sleep through it. This isn't mentioned anywhere when you book, save for the reviews, and it feels misleading to not mention this when you book.

Great location. The apartment well presented and clean. I would recommend the apartment, however, after checking in the cleaner opened the door without knocking, when I asked what she wanted, she responded “just checking” I was in a towel after taking a shower, which gave me a fright. So make sure you put the chain on the door. Only other complaint is the noise outside the back lane - emptying the glass bottle bank, both late at night and early morning. suggest you take ear plugs! Other than that it is a nice apartment for a short stay.
