I booked a junior suite with garden view & patio. I got a dirty, musty and smelly small basement room next to the kitchen with a view on a wall & noisy frying exhaust (from full haggis Scottish breakfast to fish & chips all day). This isn’t a suite or an apartment. It’s overpriced accommodation (over £200/night) and a scam. I expressed my distress a couple of times. Nobody cared. Noise from the street was intense at night. I will never go back and do not recommend this place. I cannot comment on rooms on upper floors, but avoid the room Nb 1 at all costs! There is no reception, this isn’t a hotel in any way shape or form. They care for the little cafe on the ground floor and just make money from the rooms. I’d prepaid so I had to stay. On the plus side the location is very central and the sheets/towels were clean. The rest of the room and especially bathroom was filthy and unmaintained. The photos will speak for themselves. Too bad you can’t smell through the photos or hear the exhaust or street noise.

I booked 6 hotels in the UK this time. This one is the one I am most satisfied with. The location is excellent, just on Princes Street, and it is easy to find. The breakfast provided by the hotel is an authentic English breakfast, which is very rich and tastes good ,recommend.

I booked this in a panic after another hotel messed me around, it was a little expensive but very convenient location. I arrived frustrated and annoyed but the staff were friendly and helped me with my bags. Room was nice and comfortable, if not a little small. Bath and shower worked perfectly. It was clean. Thank you for saving my trip!

This hotel is so good, why is the rating so low? The hotel has more than 200 years of history, although there is no elevator, but the equipment in the room is very advanced, the toiletries are all L'Occitane, especially mentioning that the bedside table has a radio that has been placed in the light classic is very soothing, lying down without having to watch TV like this The music is very comfortable. Breakfast bread milk fruit is self-help, other such as bacon sausage eggs can be cooked, especially Amway fried poached eggs super delicious. In the UK, if you go out to eat breakfast or lunch, you will have more than 100 pieces. The price is very high, and the price will be high. I will stay here next time~

This was our second time at this hotel and we stayed for almost a week. You can't beat the location on George Street, right downtown, close to shops and restaurants. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms and bathrooms are very nice. The king bed had a good mattress and pillows. There is a safe. They seem to have made upgrades since our last pre-covid stay, including air-conditioning in (all?) rooms. As you would expect in a big city, the rooms are quite small and the hotel is not exactly quiet; also depending on where your room faces. We were right by the elevator, which I generally don't like. I wonder if it's because we booked through our credit card and not direct. It seems there is sometimes a ”penalty'. The rooms are supplied daily with water, delicious cookies and snacks. You can make individual cups of drip coffee in a filter, which is much better than instant coffee but not as good as a Nespresso, IMHO. We had breakfast included and the Printing Press is just wonderful, for breakfast, any meal and later evening cocktails and whiskey. The Burr & Co is a coffee shop, also right next door, with tables outside. Love that place. The hotel has great service. We lost a suitcase and got daily support in checking on the status and changing the address on the delivery. There seemed to be a shortage on hair conditioner and we didn't have a sign for do-not-disturb the first day and got woken at 8 AM, but that didn't spoil our enjoyment of the hotel stay. We expect to be back.

The hotel is very new, the decoration is rich in design, and the hygiene is good. The room is large, but the bathroom leaks. There are no latex pillows or thermometers. The location is at the junction of the old and new cities. There is a shopping mall downstairs, and it is very convenient to go to attractions.

Edinburgh New Town Hotel Guide

Hotels in Edinburgh

Weather and the best time to travel to Edinburgh:

Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland. It is the second-most populous city of Scotland and is among the 20 most populated cities of the United Kingdom. The city has an overall population of about a million as of 2018, and the total area of the capital city is about 102 miles squared. Edinburgh is the hub of Scotland culturally, diplomatically, educationally, and financially. The city includes its former villages and towns from the 19th century after expanding and retains its true old character in many aspects. The New Town and Old Town areas of Edinburgh are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The climate of Edinburgh is very similar to the rest of the country. The region experiences a maritime, temperate climate that is mild in comparison to other places (like Moscow) which lie on the same latitudinal level. This temperate nature is due to the moderating effect due to Edinburgh’s proximity to the sea. The city is situated in between coast and hills and is often referred to as “the windy city”. Winter temperatures of Edinburgh cannot be called freezing, but yes winters can get a bit cold there. Talking about summers, the days are not very hot or scorching, rather they are mildly warm.

Airport / nearby airport:

Edinburgh Airport (EDI) is one of the busiest Scottish airports. The airport has got one passenger terminal and operates on one runway. It is located in the city’s Ingliston area some 8 miles away from the city centre. The road distance from the airport to the city can be covered in about 20 minutes. There are many options for getting to Edinburgh from Edinburgh Airport. One can make this journey via taxis, buses, trains, or trams. The Airlink (Lothian 100) bus or the Skylink (Lothian 200, 300, 400) are some buses that run to and from the city. The journey by these buses takes about 35 minutes and costs about 4 £. Taxis generally charge 20 £ to get to the city from the airport. There is also the option of trams which take about 35 minutes to get to the city. The fare of trams from the airport to the city is about 6 £.

Apart from this, the city folk very often prefer to cycle to their destination. There are dedicated cycle paths in the city. The main bus operators of Edinburgh and the regions around it are First Edinburgh Buses and Lothian Buses. For a day, unlimited travel costs 4 £ and that rate is the cap of what these buses can charge in a day. One can also use taxis to commute in the city. The black taxis in Edinburgh are a sort of popular phenomenon. They can be hailed on streets, hired physically from stands, or booked on phones too. Apart from these black taxis, there are also private cabs that can be hired to move in and around Edinburgh city comfortably.

How to get to the destination:

Edinburgh Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country. It is easy to get a flight to Edinburgh from almost any part of the world. Airlines like KLM Royal Dutch, Turkish Airlines, British Airways, Finn Air, Air France, Lufthansa, Delta Air, United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, and Norwegian are some of the major international carriers that fly from the rest of the world to Edinburgh. Within Europe, most flights to Edinburgh are cheap and short distance. A particular tactic that can be employed in order to squeeze in a good travel deal is to use a combination of techniques.
